Will replacing the brain box on my 98 lumina solve the fact my car wont start

The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most
GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you
put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security
chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module).
These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending
signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second.
When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode.
The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key.
This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Remember too, the TDM controls the
security light. Sometimes you can have ALL the symptoms and no lights. This link explains it pretty well.

How do you disconnect security system? I turned the car off, went to turn it back on, and it would not start, the battery is fine, but it wont click, it acts like there is no power from the ignition, all...

This is an all too common problem on GM vehicles. The problem is in the design of the antitheft system. The system must keep a CONSTANT line of communication between the key's transponder or security chip, the ignition lock cylinder, and the Theft Deterrent Module which runs the system. If there is a break in this communication for even just a second, the antitheft gets activated, the security light comes on, and finally the vehicle gets immobilized by either the starter or the injectors being turned off. The hard part is finding which part is the culprit. Go to this link for info and some other options to fix this problem.

I need to know how to reset the security light on a 1998 chevy lumina and will this keep it from starting if its been activated?

Looks like the TDM in the security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars and it can get worse till the car wont start anymore. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , it was the only thing that saved my Park Avenue.

For the security light you need to replace the ignition lock cylinder or bypass the security system. For the other two, you need to have the car scanned to see what codes are in the ecm and the abs module.
