Question about 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
Timing belt went on a 1980 vw gas pickup. cant find a mark on the crank pully or the notch like the book says. is there a different way?
You can remove the #1 spark plug and get the piston at top dead center, (all the way up in the cylinder). You can also check the access hole in the top of the transmission housing, to line up the TDC timing mark on the flywheel to the transmission housing. The mark on the crank pulley is rather hard to see, just a little mark "V'ed" into the pulley lip.
