Question about 1991 Volkswagen Jetta
Already ran fuel injector cleaner thru the system. Replaced fuel filter. When the car loses power or "bogs down" there is a coolant like smell. Coolant level has stayed the same w/ no indications of a leak. Sometimes i have to turn the cars ignition off then back on, while moving, to get the car to run until it bogs down again or stalls or starts running somewhat properly. If the car does not stall and the RPM's stay above 1500, the car immediately kicks in like normal for 10 seconds and either runs normal or starts to stall. I usually drive 40 miles @ a time. The first 10 miles is spent trying to keep the car from stalling, but mostly the car feels under powered. The other 30 are ok. It is a gasoline powered 5 speed. Any ideas as to what it could be?
I had a similar problem and the mechanic diagnosed it as a problem with the ignition coil. So you might want to get that checked.
