Revs high when i change gear

Is it possible the clutch pedal is interfering with the throttle? Start the engine in neutral and allow it to idle. Press only the clutch pedal down and see if this increase the engine speed. If it does speed up the engine and slows back down when you release the clutch then somehow this operation is where your fault lies. If it doesn't alter the idle speed, then rev your engine and release the throttle to see if it returns to idle immediately. If it is slow to return to idle then your throttle cable could be sticking. This means when you change gear lifting off the throttle has little effect and depressing the clutch to change gear causes the engine to race as the throttle is still partially open.

I have a renault scenic 05 1.5 dci when I put my foot down on the clutch it makes a really bad noise even when I'm parked up what could this be please and any Idea on repair cost thanks

sounds like the clutch release bearing is worn often part of the slave cylinder on most modern cars needs the gearbox removing to sort which will be about 5 hours labour worth checking and replacing the clutch at the same time as its bound to fail soon after if you have my luck also if it has a duel mass flywheel which again most modern diesels have that will need checking as well not a cheap job if it needs the lot

Cant change gear very well in my renault scenic 1.4

I am assuming its a manual, if it is having trouble fitting into multiple gears, its probably the idle gear, which is the one that should be going an appropriate speed when you are trying to mesh gears (with the help of synchronizers which could also be the problem) and if its not going the right speed, then it will have some difficulties meshing. try this method. when you are going to switch gears, depress the clutch pedal, pull it out of gear, then when still in between gears, let the pedal out, then depress the pedal again, and select your gear. this is the "double clutch" method that commercial truck drivers use with transmissions that do not even have synchronizers in them and should work for you. if this does not work (or if it does but its such a pain to you that you still want to get it fixed) then go to a transmission shop and have it looked at

WHEN TO CHANGE TIMING BELT ON RENAULT SCENIC GRAND DCI MODEL & DO THE PETROL MODELS HAVE TIMING BELTS OR A TIMING CHAIN?

The Renault schedule for timing belts on the Scenic is 72,000 miles or 5 years. This applies to both the petrol and DCI models as both have timing belts not chains.

However, please be aware that it is common knowledge in the trade not to let the interval go past 40,000 miles because these engines are renowned for snapping belts at any time after 40k resulting in serious engine damage.

Haynes (who are renowned for their service manuals on many models) recommend a maximum interval of 36,000 miles between belts on this model which is exactly half that of what Renault say!

This information from Haynes is backed up by experience and reports from the trade on the common and unfortunate experiences of customers experiencing belt breakage at 45 k and below.

Hope this helps. Please do leave a vote for the solution. Thanks.
