Check Engine Light, Code p0340, triggered by other accessories?

I have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. The other day I went to turn on the cruise control and the "cruise" light would not come on. I pushed the button again and the check engine light came on. Got home, checked the codes and found P0340. (Camshaft position sensor). The light went off and all was well later in the day. This morning I turned on the windshield wipers & the same thing happened. This may be a rediculous question, but is there any explainable correlation between the wipers, cruise, and the P0340 code being thrown? Thanks.

I have the code p0340 come up on my 2000 dodge intrepid, the check engine light comes on, and my car sometimes will take a few tries to start, does that sound like the camshaft sensor? how positive are you if it is?

Its probably just grounded wires.. check your car's wiring.. if you can't do that yourself. Have an electrician/mechanic check it for you..

I have a 2003 dodge intrepid es with the 3.5l motor 1 day I was driving and my car over heated and just shut off when I lifted the hood the radiator hose was busted I finally got it home and opened it up...

You need to find out what fault caused the check engine light to come on, until the fault code is retrieved from the engine control module memory you are 100% guessing. I think you have a misfire.

Code p0340 on 2000 dodge intrepid

it might be the cam shaft sensor it might be the crank shaft sensor the best thing to do is replace them bolth. but it does sound like it may be either one because if one goes out the other will still work but when starting the car it will take longer for it to read from either or the one sensor that is still working because they work together to tell the system to deliver the gas. im pretty positive that it is either the cam or crank shaft sensor

Ran scans and came up with intermittant signal

replace the PCV valve, its cheap, causes THAT to happen when dirty, and takes about ten minutes if you are comfortable working under the hood.
