SOURCE: Reverse Lights not working and engine starts on any gear

You have a reverse indicator switch on you transmission. You will need to make sure that it didn’t come unplugged or that the wire didn’t break. This is a single wire that should be close to the rear of the transmission.

SOURCE: Mercedes benz wont go into reverse

300e tranny reverese uses clutch disk for B3 and therefore no external fix. You will need to pull the tranny out and might as well rebuild the whole thing.

SOURCE: reverse lights wont work

On the side of your transmission will be a switch with several wires coming out of it. This is your reverse switch that turns on your reverse lights and most likely needs to be replaced

My backlight is not working and i dont know which fuse to change

not sure what you mean by backlight.. reverse light ? rear dome light? trunk light? brake light? most likely its a bulb that has blown not a fuse... if its reverse lights then you may have a bad reverse switch not sending the signal to the lights.

My backup lights will not come on when in reverse; bulbs are good and fuse is not blown; where is the switch for the reverse/backup lights???

the reverse back up lights usually light up when the car is in reverse gear.., however get the wiring checked as you already have checked the fuse and bulbs.

Reverse lights flash on/off when car is put into reverse; Mercedes 98 E320. Also the rear center brake light does not work at all. All of the bulbs have been checked/replaced so they are not the issue.

REVERSE LIGHT PROBLEM COULD BE LOOSE WIRES OR FAULTY TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR.THE REAR CENTER BRAKE LIGHT COULD HAVE FAULTY BULB SOCKET OR GROUND WIRE AND THE CONTROL MODULE THAT CONTROLS IT CIRCUIT.

I am having a problem with my 1994 w202 c200 automatic.the car will go forward with no problem but it will only go about 3 foot in reverse and come to a stop but if you give the car a lot of gas the car...

This is a common problem with 722.3-722.5 auto transmissions. Just behind the trans. front pump is your reverse piston(b3).The clutch packs wear out and the trans slips in reverse and on the overdrive series that b3 piston is also used for 5th gear. It is a fairly simple repair as far as transmissions go but it is costly. my first suggestion is to remove your a/t filter and cut it open and see if there is clutch pack material inside the filter and inspect the trans for leaks and I'm assuming the fluid level has been checked and corrected
