I have a 1986 s10 blazer with a manual 5speed ****** and 2.8 V6 motor. my problem is pulling out of first gear. Everytime i shift into first and start to release the clutch and accelerate, it pops out of first gear. I think it only stays in gear if i over accelerate and release clutch pedal slowly. Someone told me the shift fork that engages the throwout bearing or flexplate? What could be my problem? i also plan on repair this myself. Any advice will be helpful...

This is typical for this Blazer...Wish I could give a bunch of easy advice...the truth is need a new transmission. Good luck this will be spendy. Probably around $1000 with labor. Check the junk yards though these blazer and jimmys are starting to show up now. The job isn't too hard.. I do suggest that you make a drain in the transmission pan for the future though this will help you keep the fluid maintenaced better.

Manual or Automatic? Manual, I would look at the linkage. The pins that hold the shift forks and rods can break causing only 1 gear.
Automatic, should have reverse as well. If not or very weak then the clutches have gone out. Drop the pan and see what the fluid looks like and if there is debris in the pan.
