93 honda accord, 10th anniversary edition. The Check engine lightcame ON and after some research, I found out that it is the Exhaust Recirculation System.
What the heck is this? How long can I go without repairing it and how much is it going to cost me to repair it?
Please help.
Thank you.

- Thank you Scott.
I dont know much about cars and dont even know where the EGR is. So I will porbably have it looked by a mechanic and see if he can clean it out.
Hi there. This is normally called the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and without going into detail it is used to improve vehicle emissions. It’s basically a large value which is operated by manifold vacuum, its opening is controlled electronically and there are four possible problems, the vacuum system is not operating correctly, there might be an electrical problem, a seized EGR value or the internal filter is blocked. Firstly, I’d check all the vacuum connections (simply follow them through from one end to the other), you can strip the EGR valve down, clean the filter and check the valve is not seized. Of course, it’s always better that the EGR is working as it should and you should have it repaired by an experienced Tuning Shop or Dealer. Hope this helps, Scottech.
not a foreign car guy...but.. from what i understand, that exhaust stuff is suppose to help draw unburnt gasses and stuff from ur exhaust to reuse. logically.. there shouldnt be any problem if u dont ever get it fixed.. I could be totally wrong, but hey, its an idea
