There is a fuse box behind your glove box that has a fuse for your break lights

Not sure if there is another fuse box on that model but have you checked the bulbs it could have shorted out the bulbs, there not that hard to take out and very inexpensive while you have the bulb out a test light is cheap you can test to see if you are getting power when the brake pedal is depressed. Another consideration is the cord damaged and only shorting out the brake light circuit.
