If you replaced the timing belt and the car has been doing this, it is possible you are 1 tooth out with the timing belt.

SOURCE: my high beam lights & parking lights work, but not the normal lights.1985 holden astra!

By "normal lights" I assume you mean "low-beam headlamps"? If this is true, then you may either have burned out headlamp bulbs or a faulty low-beam headlamp relay or relay circuit.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your assistance. Burnt out low beam headlamp bulbs was the problem. They said it was unusual for both to go at the same time, but that's how it was. Your help was greatly appreciated. "

Do you have to lock the tensioner with the special toll for a holden Astra 1.8 when changing fan belt

You have to release the tension to remove the belt if it didn't break in two. You will still have to use the tool to install a new belt to move the idler pulley out of the way when it comes time to put tension on the belt

Holden astra repair

have the cooling system pressure tested to find the leak. Have a compression test done to check the head gasket and for cracks.. Have an accredited mechanic check the noise as there are plenty of places that produce a noise.

Need to know how to get the water pump out without removing the motor damn foreign cars. and lil handed men

i have never worked on a paseo, I presume that it is 4cylinder front wheel drive
A lot of the water pumps on the japanese cars are driven by the timing belt which is behind the plastic covers on the front of the motor
if it is similar to a holden astra you have to place a jack under the front of the engine to hold it up as you have to remove the front engine mount
loosen the alternator belt and remove the belt
remove the crankshaft pulley
remove the plastic timing covers top and bottom
remove the timing belt but make sure the cam gears do not move otherwise you have to set the timing up again
when the timing belt has been removed the water pump should be visible, possibly at the bottom left side looking at the engine from the side of the car
there may be 2 or 3 bolts holding the pump in, remove the bolts and the water pump should be able to pull out of the housing, there will be an "O" ring on the pump, make sure you put it on the new pump as it is a lot of work as you are about to find out if you have forgotten to do this
Here in Australia they want $1200 plus to do the timing belt on a holden astra without the water pump but it is best to replace the water pump when you replace the timing belt because of the work involved
took me about 5 hrs to do that job as I had never done one before
i hope this helps you in some way
