My 2005 VW Passat 1.9 TDi starts and then cuts out and display reads "immobiliser activated" then "workshop manual" any suggestions as to what the problem and how is it fixed without a main dealer getting involved??
There may not be any other way to fix it except to replace your instrument panel. That's where your immobilizer is located. Or you could try this:
Try cold-booting the car. Remove both battery cables from the battery.
Short the battery cables together (away from the battery) for about 15
seconds. Reconnect the battery. No guarantees - I found this info at tdiclub.com.

It starts up again fine but when you slow down to come to a stop it quits running . Last evening I drove it about 70 miles and when I came to a stop sign it quit on me 3 times. Otherwise it runs fine. Thinking it could possibly be the fuel filter?? The check engine does not come on.
