Water pump

Hey Brian,on your vehicle,it says that the timing belt should be replaced at the same time as water pump,so I would go that route,2 birds with one stone, also it's best to have a pictured step by step guide to do this and you will always have a guide to do repairs, here's a link on buying a repair manual.

Replacing a water pump 1988 toyota tercel 1.5 auto with A/C

Replacing a water pump is not to bad, but it can be quite a chore if you are not some what mechanically incline. So, what I am going to do is give you this link, that is real good and I have forwarded a lot of my customers here, because its got some pictures as well as pretty step by step instructions. Of course every car is a little bit different, but concept is the same. I myself tell people that if they do not have some good tools and good mechanical ability and common sense, it is in some cases to have this one done by a pro. Auto Zone for free can get you the exact look at design for your car, but I am sure this link I will give you, is a good format to follow if you have some mechanical ability. Here is the link to copy and paste in your browser and go from there. I hope this helps. Mike from FIXYA.

Let me know if you need more info. :)

How do i change the water pump on my 1996 toyota corolla

The water pump is driven by the timing belt. You should plan to replace the belt while you are in there. Below is a picture that shows the pump. and a link to show the steps.

This link I got from another sight. "Go to sign up and put in your year, make and model and under repair guides click on engine/engine overhaul and on the left hand side you will see water pump click on that, there you will find complete diagrams" From

Water pump just went. What is the step by step proceedure in replacing it?

this will require replacing the timingbelt, as the waterpump is ran by this. Its also recommended that crank, cam seals, and thermostat are replaced as well. Heres a link to this procedure, if your vehicle is a 4cyl click on 5SFE engine if V6 click 1MZFE engine>>>

If your vehicle is a V6, please let me know, it is more difficult to time this if you are not familiar with this engine. Many V6 camrys come to me for previous timing work mistakes, mostly. Hopefully this helps

How to change water pump in 1996 geo metro?

I've found the Haynes Repair Manual that you can get at Auto Zone to be the best one there is. They have step by step instructions with pictures on repairing or replacing just about anything on your auto. You can get them for around $20 - 25. Is yours a 3 or 4 cylinder? Auto Zone has a new service where you can actually look up repair instructions for your vehicle with pictures. Here's the instructions for a 3 cylinder for your year, make and model:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
CAUTIONWhen draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by the ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  2. Loosen but do not remove the four coolant pump pulley bolts.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4. Remove the lower splash shield.
  5. Remove the air conditioner compressor drive belt.
  6. Remove the lower alternator cover plate bolts, loosen the alternator adjusting bolt and remove the drive belt.
  7. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  8. Remove the coolant pump pulley.
  9. Remove the timing belt.
  10. Remove the oil level dipstick and guide tube.
  11. Remove the alternator adjusting bracket from the water pump.
  12. Remove the water pump rubber seals.
  13. Remove the water pump mounting bolts and nuts. Remove the water pump from the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Clean the gasket mating surfaces thoroughly.
  2. Check the water pump by hand for smooth operation. If the pump does not operate smoothly or is noisy, replace it.
  3. Install the pump using a new gasket. Tighten bolts to 115 inch lbs.. (13 Nm).
  4. Install new rubber seals.
  5. Install the upper alternator adjusting bracket and tighten bolt to 17 ft. lbs.. (23 Nm).
  6. Install the oil level dipstick and guide tube.
  7. Install the timing belt.
  8. Install the water pump pulley and leave the bolts hand tight.
  9. Install the crankshaft pulley.
  10. Install the water pump/alternator drive belt.
  11. Install the lower alternator cover plate and tighten bolts to 89 inch lbs.. (10 Nm).
  12. Install the air conditioner compressor drive belt by releasing the tensioner pulley and installing belt.
  13. Install the lower splash shield and lower vehicle.
  14. Tighten water pump pulley mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs.. (24 Nm).
  15. Adjust the water pump drive belt tension and tighten alternator adjustment bolt to 17 ft. lbs.. (23 Nm).
  16. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  17. Refill the cooling system.
  18. Connect the negative battery cable.
  19. Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Check for leaks and refill cooling system as necessary.
