It seems like 90% of tranny shops paint their trannys either gray, silver or another color when they rebuild their trannys.however,a factory remanufactured(ie. GM etc.) trans will probably have a more professional "baked on"paint job and the paint wont come off as easily.you could also look for evidence of new parts such as gaskets, sensors or switches could indicate a repaired trans.

I have a 1995 oldsmobile 88 royale and it is knocking loud and losing oil pressure. I was using alot of trans oil but now it is worse.. what can I do and how can I repair it.

You may want to find a lightly used replacement engine and transmission. It sounds to me like you have a connecting rod bering going or gone.

Hi All your love, Lucky boy, The vehicle is fairly old and I suspect it has a points and condenser ignition system. Renew the points and replace the condenser. Set the gap to .45 mm and then set up the firing position by loosening the distributor locking base and setting it at 6 degrees before top dead center. I think it is not a fuel problem but instead, ignition timing. Regards John

There is only one thought or answer.

Since 1980, whenever you get a check light on, you go to a repair shop. They check the codes, that set the light, and use that as a starting point, to diagnose and repair your issues.
