Question about 1997 Chevrolet K1500
I have a 1997 chevrolet K-1500 with a 4L60E that will not lock up when it is hot. I have noted that when it is cold, it will not lock up until it is warmed up. When warm, the converter will lock up for a while. If I drive the vehicle in town, when the transmission gets warm, the converter will stop locking up in all gears. The transmission continues to shift through all gears fine. The transmission is a junk yard replacement, put into the truck before I bought it. If I drive the truck long enough, It will start shifting very firmly, like it has a shift kit. After that the check engine light will come on. I was advised to change the lock up solinoid, which I did, but my problem persists. Any help will be appreciated.
TCC valve is most likely worn out, needs rebuilt transmission with new rebuilt converter. Most likely P1870 shift code.
