The problem is most likely either an oil pressure switch (not registering pressure properly) or the oil pump which isn't maintaining proper pressure at low speeds. As far as oil preferenc goes, it's a matter of where you live, how hard you drive, if the car leaks oil. In a warmer climate, 10W40 will stand up to the hotter climate better than 30 weight oil. Best of luck.

10-30 has a range of temp from 32 degrees to 75 degrees
10-40 has a range from 0 degrees to 90 degrees
this will determain what temp conditions you drive in
** also sounds like oil relay is bad on motor

The oil light keeps on flickering even though I checked the level and it's at the correct level. I even checked all other levels for all other fluids and they are all correct. What can be the reason that...

There are a number of reason that could cause this: bad sensor, low oil pressure, wire rubbed and grounding out.

You need to screw out the oil pressure sensor and screw in a pressure guage then crank the car and observe the guage. It should stay above 20 psi at all times.

Does it flicker when idling or driving or both?

Oil light on when oil is full

a loose connection WILL NOT cause flickering oil light unless your your oil is empty at the same time a connector is loose. This flickering is most likely caused by clogged oil ports or failing oil pump. When this happens there is insufficient oil running through the engine, causing the sensor to activate the light intermittedly. Have this checked immediately to prevent extensive engine damage. Hopefully this helps!!

About 2 miles into your first trip of the day it will start tapping and it gets louder like all the lifters are sticking, and the oil light flickers, could the oil pump be going bad

Oh, yeah, with those noises and the oil light flickering, do not drive it anymore, you'll kill the engine. Get that oil pump replaced ASAP.

Oil Pump light flickering + rough idle on 1996 Nissan Maxima

Sounds more like the Throttle Position Sensor or another sensor is letting the engine RPM's drop too low. When the RPM's are too low, the oil pump is not pumping enough oil.
