2003 1500.......a/c quits

The a/c system blows cold most of the time, but if it is over 100, or if you go through a drive thru, or even if you get stopped at many red lights. The compressor cuts out, and will not come back on till the truck has cooled off.

There are a couple of reasons for this to happen, one is the AC compressor clutch closing coil is defective and goes open, result compressor won't engage, the other is the low side pressure line cycling switch sticks.. there are many other less cmmon problems as well.sucha s switch problems and wiring issues, but GM AC systems are about the best there is.

Try cleaning condensor and radiator with pressue washer(be careful no to bend fins)may haft to remove grill if they are dirty will cause ecessive high pressure in system triggering high pressure switch thats why compressor shuts down-if it didnt system would blow line or damage compressor-try that if it works keep clean on regular basis!!!Best of Luck To You!!!!

Why does the heater blow hot air when I drive after its been idling for 15min and not during the idle when it reaches the 100 Temp?...(it blows cold air in idle)

Firstly, a thermostat that opens quicker will not give you better heat. Your heater core may be partially plugged causing a low flow issue. Another area to check would be the water pump impeller for corrosion or slipping on the shaft. Does the vehicle's cooling system operate well otherwise?

I have a 2000 Chevy Venture van and the heat when turned on blows cold. For a while it was still blowing out warm air thru the back vents but now it is all cold. The van wouldn't warm up at all e

needs the water system back flushing out, heater being cold is its blocked up some time a few back flushes and forward flushes with a hose pipe should free up the dirt inside, same with the engine and radiator. there are meany videos on you tube to help you understand how to back flush you engie. but do the radiator and engine and heater separate so the muck does not go back into the engine.

AC is blowing cold but barely out of vents even on HI. I can hear blowing hard.

It sounds like vacuum is not getting to the vent, heat and A/C controls. Find the vacuum can. It may be under the hood on one of the inner fenders. The "one-way" check valve is usually located in the line and close to the can, make sure it works properly. The valve could be the very thing that's causing the problem. Trace the lines back to the vacuum block at the intake manifold or fire-wall, and also back to where the line goes thru the fire-wall. Check the can for leaks or obvious holes. They used to be just a plain metal can, but it could be a plastic ball. Check the lines as you go, for breaks and rub-thru's. Move the controls thru all settings and listen for vent door movement. Worst case is a bad vacuum motor or air flow position selector switch. If you have been driving around with the Temperature knob or control set at the same spot for months, move it from fully cold to fully hot several times and wait for the air temperature to change each time. This will help reset the blend door and vacuum control system. Hope this helps... Let me know what you find.

Heater blows cold air

generally if your heater blows cold air, three things can cause it. 1: very low coolant (anti-freeze) levels, your car would generally overheat tho if at those levels. 2: car HVAC systems have a fin inside which turns to allow either your hot or cold air to pass thru, to check for this just turn your air con on high with the temp turned to hot, this will go cold if this is the case. 3: blown heater core. this is generally a costly repair on any car as they are generally installed midway thru assembly, so removing parts to gain access is a time consuming and difficult task.
All these issues are quite difficult to repair if you do not have the appropriate level of training. I would reccomend taking your car to your local mechanic. although due to the complexity of fixing a heater core ( usually you have to drain your A/C) this can be a very expensive repair.
i hope i have helped cheers

Hi,my 1995 bmw 316i only blows cold air.even when the temp control is full at red it blows ice cold air, thanks.rod

check hot water is circulating through heater rad by feeling the inlet and outlet pipes as they come thru the bulkhead if ok it sounds like there is a control panel prob, if hot water isnt circulating make sure cooling system is bled properly, and you could try backflushing the system.

89 merc tracer blows cold air brrrrrrr

I would recommend flushing the heater core with water thru the coolant line, then blowing compressed air thru it also. And when you refill the coolant, make sure there is no air in the system.I would also recommend replacing the thermostat if you have the time and the money and the knowledge to do so
