Could be that your cat is clogged up,the way to check is to remove and look in both ends, mine clogged up and caused my head gasket to blow between cylinder 3 and 4 on my 85 Nissan 720,part of the inside came apart and was blocking the air flow, causing my exhaust plugs to blister.

Lose power going up hill

1968 pickup? what?
2012, Toyota updated Toyota Hilux Vigo "Champ"?
what year, no year no joy,
what engine, no engine option stated, so no possible exact answers.
if wanting dead accurate answers, WHAT COUNTRY?
upgrade = tuneup = doing all 60k service points?

now in the generic.
if it misfires, it can be bad spark, (engine shakes)
if it only bogs. its bad fueling
bad fueling means, bad carb.
if modern car, bad fueling means EFI problems.
do tell year,
do tell engine. (cylinder count and displacment)
or pick one out here.

I replaced the knock sensor, what else could be causing acceleration problems on hills?

The knock sensor code does not always mean the sensor is faulty.
The sensor picks up noise and vibration in the engine such as a spark knock would generate, and the computer slows down the spark timing to fix it. If the noise or vibration continues, the code is set.
Could be a noisy valve, or a problem with the crankshaft or other component.

Car ticking while accelerating up a hill

Sounds like a spark knock, your knock senson could be B/O. This sensor retards timing so motor will not knock under accelleration.

2004 Saturn Ion2 with 2.2L Has trouble accelerating up a hill or under hard acceleration. Also has Loud ticking noise (sounds like valves ticking). Check manifold vacuum with a vacuum gage and OBDII...

Sounds like a bad coil pack. If memory serves they had the double coil pack on the back of the motor that were notorious for going bad and were seriosuly cheap to replace.

I'd also be looking towards a CKP (Crank Position Sensor) in that car.

95 ranger 2.3l spark knock problem

Is this a manual trans in this truck, if so, try shifting down a gear. But yes a timing belt could cause this, but usually they wont run very well if the timing belt is that bad worn.

My ranger run's fine on level but on hill's

you got head gasket problems, white smoke is an indication of water turning to steam, probably doing uphill because the engine is under greater load.i think the knocking is pre ignition, carry out an engine compression test to verify your head gaskets integrity
