The easy way to find out what was the positive or the negative without knowing the wire color code or without using the tester,,,is.. cut the bulb's line you want to know. Scratch them one by one to the unpainted vehicle's body,,If the wire has built a spark?.. That is the POSITIVE.

SOURCE: rear lights not working

Toyotas sometimes have multiple power wires coming off of the battery to fuse blocks. One of these wires may be broken. Electrical schematics are available on-line or in repair manuals. If you don't have one, go to the library and look in the repair manual section.

06 Jeep Renegade - no tail lights, brake, reverse, driving, drivers or passenger - fuses ok all, new bulbs!

Just looking at the prints on the link below I see a J9 junction connector which I think looks like all or most of the back lights go through it. If front parking lights are out it could be the light switch looking at the bottom print, Fig Power source. If front parking lights work it may be a rusted connector or wire grounded on something to the connector. I had a caviler one time I unplugged the connector put a little electrical grease on it and plugged it back in and the lights started working. I do not remember every light in the rear of the car being out. Hope this is of some help.

I have a 2006 Chevy Uplander and I'm trying to connect a reverse backup camera to my car and I do not know which wire is positive for the reverse light bulb

open up the rear bulb compartment cover
and note the color wires running into the reverse light bulb holder

a hand full of fuses as you
use a LED test light or voltmeter to find the right wire

and use those color wires as your power /earth for the reverse camera

or you need the rear loom wiring diagram for that 2006 chev

2006 Chevrolet Colorado, only left front turn signal works, not even hazard are working.

first check the brake light fuse it powers the rear bulbs.
remove and verify that all bulbs are working. note the wire colors going to the bulbs. replace as needed.
next check the turn signal switch. if broken replace.
sometimes switches break on the inside so measure from the power lead to the outputs. The wires going to the bulbs. easy because they are on the bulbs you checked.
if you have towing package there will be a connector to hook up lights on the trailer. Inspect for bare wires or cuts in the insulation.
good luck

I just bought a horse trailer and when I hook it up to my 2006 Silverado, the lights don't work. My trailer hitch and wiring system are new, and the previous trailer owner tested the lighting of

Some people wire trailer plugs differently. If the plug is not wired differently than yours, make sure the tow ball is clean. No rust. That's where the trailer gets its ground from. Usually they will work if thats the case, but not right. I can't remember what the wire colors are right now. Go to etrailer and look up the diagram.

Illumination lights are out on climate control unit for 02 highlander

This solution has two basic assumptions. (1) Your fuse is fine and (2) the problem is a blown bulb and not a wiring issue.
That having been said, you're going to have to CAREFULLY remove the audio/climate control trim panel. Use a trim stick (if you can find one) or a taped or cloth-covered thin flathead screwdriver and GENTLY but firmly, pry the trim to release the clips. There are six clips holding the trim panel. Two on the bottom, two on the sides just under the vents, and two at the top corners.
Next you're going to have to remove the control assembly. There are 6 bolts holding it in place. Remove the bolts then pull out the assembly slightly so that you can disconnect the electrical connectors on the back of the unit. Do NOT pull the wires directly or you can cause serious damage. Only pull on the plastic connectors holding the wires. After all the connectors are unplugged, paying attention to where they come from so that you plug them back in correctly, the unit can be removed.
Next you're going to have to remove the back cover of the unit. To do that, first remove the two side bolts from the mounting brackets on each side attached to the climate control assembly. Then remove the back cover by unscrewing the six screws along the sides of the back cover and the two recessed screws at the top. Once the back cover is removed, you should see a light blue plastic piece with a screwdriver slot in the middle of it. That's your bulb. Take out the old bulb, put in your new one and reverse everything you just did to put it all back together again.
If you've done everything right, your unit should be illuminated once again.
Good luck.

Looking for a wiring diagram for a 2006 Ford Expedition

7way- black is 12volt (power), brown, running lights, yellow is left turn signal and stop light, green is right turn signal and stop light, white is ground, blue is brakes, and orange is aux power (can be back up lights, if trailer equipped w/ them). 6way is the same, minus orange wire. I have run into some variations to the above color codes (brown, yellow and green only-sometimes these 3 are different than stated, but only mixed as that group, as to what they control- example would be green is running lights, brown and yellow are turn signal and stop lights, the others should be as stated), if you have any trouble with things not working properly, it may be due to these variations, although the above are pretty standard. If you have an ohm meter you can check as you go (check for power at black wire- should be constant 12v, turn on turn signal and check for power-it will fluctuate from approx. 12 volts to 0 volts as the signal power pulses in the wire) hit the brakes, blue wire should show power, etc. Let me know if you need more help as you go.

Converted my bmw e30 325i form auot to manuel

You need to jump the neutral safety switch there was a plug you disconnected in front of the shifter it has either 4 or 6 pins, take the plug you pulled out cut it off of the old gear selector and plug it back in and strip the wires back, the wires are color coded so like colors usually go together. with a 12 volt test light ground the clip to a proper ground, turn the key to the start position hold on start and check for voltage at the wires you previously stripped, let go of key and voltage should stop if voltage is constant you may be on the reverse light circuit, keep looking for voltage that goes on only when key turned to start, when you find it look for the corresponding color ie green /white to green/ black etc, wire the 2 together and starter should crank over, if not try another one. you will also need to wire the reverse light switch from the new trans to this connector. stay away from brown wires as they are grounds on bmw and never hook anything but brown to brown unless you are 100 percent certain it hooks up that way
