Question about 1998 Isuzu Rodeo

1998 Isuzu Rodeo Charging Problem

My battery wouldn't charge, so I replaced it. Still won't charge so I took the alternator to Auto Zone. It checked out OK. Is there a separate voltage regulator on the Rodeo ? Or, are the diodes located elsewhere, I don't see the normal "round things" on the outside of the alternator. If so, does anyone know where the regulator/diodes are ?
The only indication I get is a brake/charge light at idle RPM's. Thanks.

not solve the problem

Battery not charging.

the most likely reason is your alternator is not putting out a charge either due to a bad diode, broken belt or failed internal regulator. It can be tested for free at most any commercial auto parts store. Your car will not run long without it being checked, repaired and/or replaced.

My 1998 rodeo is messing up i turn it on and it idles at 1500 rpm and it should be around 700, and my battery light stays on now too. what is causing this

if your battery light is staying on the battery is bad or the alternator is going out have auto zone test see which one bad it is raising the idle speed try charge the battery also check your battery connections make sure clean and tight

I've replaced the battery and the alternator on my 2003 Isuzu Rodeo. But when traveling for several hours with headlights on the battery will go dead and the alternator won't charge till it cools off....

Sounds like there's still something wrong with the charging system. Did you verify alternator output?
(Volts/amps) Should charge at about 13.5 - 14.5 volts when engine at medium idle. About 65 amps w/o a/c, about 85 amps with a/c. If you've got the non a/c alt in a vehicle with a/c, amps falling short may cause intermittent charging/problems.

Does engine exhaust leak blow on alternator? Had this symptom before-it can ruin your alternator also.

Battery going dead-either the battery won't HOLD a charge or the alternator is not charging it. One or the other is your problem. Verify alternator output as described earlier, then need to do a LOAD test on the battery with a full charge.

Hope this helps.

02 maxima battery wont stay charged. Took to auto zone to have battery and alternator checked and they say=its fine. purchased new battery and three days later it was dead/Altenator is charging at 12.9

that seems very, very low. almost what the battery voltage is supposed to be. actually i would say that's not charging and you need to replace the alternator. normal voltage output is 13.5-15 volts

My 1998 isuzu will get jump started but wont hold the charge i thought after it runs for a couple of mins it should recharge it self wats wrong snl

If the battery is bad it will not hold a charge. Have your battery checked a the local parts house or your mechanic. Also have the charging and starting systems checked to insure they are working properly. Battery should have a reading of about 12.8 volts, alternator should be putting out between 13 and 14 volts. Starter should not draw to many amps.

Get a Beck Arnley alternator. The auto-zone, Napa etc. alternators are a problem for Isuzu's. I worked at a dealership and a lot of them came in for this problem. If you still have the original have it rebuilt. Check yellow pages.
