In order to recover the refrigerant from the system you will need to have access to a recovery machine and someone certified by EPA to do it. Almost every garage has personnel certified. DO NOT just vent it out. After that is done and all the retrofit spec are met (see below) here is how to charge your system back up. Once all of the old refrigerant is removed, and the EPA steps are taken, here is how you get the refrigerant into the system. First locate your low pressure switch. You will need to use a jumper wire on this so that your compressor will remain running in order to pull the refrigerant into the system. This switch is usually located on the accumulator(looks like an aluminum can with two lines coming from the top of it) If you do not find it on your accumulator trace your low side line until you come to it. Once you jump it, turn your truck on, turn your A.C. on and charge the refrigerant as a VAPOR into the LOW side of the system until you reach the right low side pressure. (If you need help figuring up the right pressure, message me back with the temperature of where you are doing the work) It differs as the temperature goes up or down. Once you reach your pressure, you are done. It is just that easy when it is done right. When you are saying convert to 134, what are you changing. In order to do a proper retrofit it involves more than the fittings and the refrigerant. EPA has specific requirements in order for it to be done. If you do not know the requirements, reply to me and I will be more than happy to break them all down to you. FYI: They are getting very very strict with their regulations concerning the clean air act with fines of up to 32,500 dollars per incident

SOURCE: where is the low side port to add r134a on a 2000

It is the side with the gray or black cap on it. The high side won't fit the can you are trying to fill from. They dummy proofed it pretty good. Only one will fit. Also, the A/C has to be running and on Max before you register a pressure and fill. If it is off it will read high.

SOURCE: where is the low side

On most cases, this will be located near the front grill on the driver side of the engine. In some cases, you may find it near the firewall.
Good Luck!!

It should be one of the ports on the compressor or the lines to the condenser. The low side port is smaller than the high side.

My 93 jeep grand cherokee service 4wd switch is on. what does this mean ?

Hey there, The driver info center in the 93 grand cherokee's is notorious for this message. This switch is on the transfer case and its only purpose is to tell that display what 4 wheel drive mode you are in (eg. 2 wheel, 4 wheel high, 4 wheel low, etc.) This can mean the switch bad but is USUALLY cause by a short in the display module itself. This will not affect anything on your Jeep. It is merely for driver information only. This is a very common problem and if you have a 93 in which the display is working at all your are lucky. They are very bad about going completely out over time.

Where is the low pressure ac valave on my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs manufactured in or before 1995 use R12 refrigerant. You mustretrofit these SUVs to accept R134 refrigerant using a retrofit kitavailable at your local auto parts store before you can recharge thesystem. In some areas, a license is required to retrofit an airconditioning system. If this is the case in your area, take your Jeepto a professional to retrofit the system.

Locate the Low Pressure Side connector port: You will find it on the driver's side of the engine.

Good luck!!! (rated this help)
