My son has a 2007 Hyundai accent and when I close the driver side door, the latch does not catch. I looked at the passenger side and moved the latch with my finger, it clicks and stays when it is in the downward position. When I try that on the driver side, no click and it will go right back to the open position and does not stay down(latched). I also cannot lock that door either. Does this sound electrical, mechanical or both. Any help will be great. Thanks,

My 2005 Equinox just had the same problem on the rear passanger door. My husband took a heat gun to the latch about 10 minutes ago, and now the door latches.

It sounds like the classic "someome brushed up against the lock on the door and changed the position to the locked position" ordeal. Try changing the position of the lock in the door. You should be able to look at the lock before you change it and see that it is in the wrong position and can not mate with the receiver (or nader pin). It is classic tha the door won't close when this is the case.
Testimonial: "Excellent, I will remove the lock and examine it. Superb speedy service and great answers, just what I needed to hear. thanks louise"

What are you working on? Ford made a number of different types of door latches over the years. Include some info on you specific vehicle in your post.
Hold down the "open" button on your remote and simultaneosly pull the inside handle of that door open. I just had the issue with my driver's door and as my son tried to "help" (he's 9), one of the passenger doors also got stuck! After not finding a non-tech response, played around some until the the dran latch obliged on the front door. Repeated on passenger door and whew! :-)
