When i go to turn on the engine on my 1992 ford ranger XLT 2.3L manual transmission. the key wants to keep the starter on. its sounds like when you are trying to start a car with a dead battery what do i do to fix it? do i need a new ignition switch? or is it as simple as re-greasing the starter switch

most likely right on top of steering colum around have way down

what i would do is make sure the battery is fully charged and double check that all connections are clean. the smallest amount of corrotion will cause that problem. that is what it seems to me.

Check ignition switch, the switch sit on the steering colum, under the dash, on the top side of the colum, make sure the rod that come's from the key is still in the switch, you will have to remove switch to check, held on with two small screw's, after removeble of switch, with screw driver work switch, if it don't feel spring like, switch is bad

bridge starter direct to start/check fuses.starter relay/antitheft remote control

In most cases you will have to drill it.
There are videos on Youtube that show how its done.
Most all Ford locks in the late 80s and early 90s are the same style.
