SOURCE: Why does my overdrive light flash while i drive. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer.

It means the transmission has seen a fault and there will be a code set for the fault. Get the trouble codes read at an auto parts store such as AutoZone where they usually do it free and post the code if you can. It can reset its self every time you turn the vehicle off but it will not fix the problem. Could be a minor or a major problem so you don't know till the codes are read.

No, the EGR Valve recirculates exhaust gases to burn them a bit more and has no link to the transmission. You need an auto electrician or a transmission specialist.

Hard shift from 1 to 2 nd gear, overdrive light flashing, no codes on his obd

If the OD light is flashing then you have faults, it maybe the scan tool can't read the Trans control module codes.

Transmission modulator 1996 4wd Ford explorer locstion

I think this is an electronic trans with no modulator. Overdrive is really not a gear but rather torque converter lockup. Torque converter may have completely failed.

If the light is flashing, there is a problem with the transmission and/or control module. You'll need to get it checked out by a shop with a scanner that can access the system.

This is likely your electronic speed sensor which is located under the vehicle against the frame on the passenger side.

Overdrive Off light keeps flashing. Vehicle is a Ford Explorer '96.

If your overdrive off light keeps flashing this indicates an electrical or mechanical fault has occurred with your transmission and a diagnostic code has been stored in your trucks on board computer. The stored codes can be read by diagnostic scanner and will aid in making a diagnosis of the problem that is occurring.

92 explorer sport 4x4 shifts great but no overdrive i changed fluid,filter and both solenoids and the computer still no overdrive what else could it be

i actually adjusted the overdrive band and now it shifts great in all forward gears thank anyways

My overdrive

the OD light flashing indicates that the transmission control module has observed a fault. Take the car to a local aftermarket parts place and get the codes pulled (typically free) this will send you in the right direction regarding a repair.

My overdrive light is flashing indicating the overdrive is off

this could mean there is a problem with the transmission,but most times when OD light is flashing it is because the wiring to the OD switch is broken.
is the OD switch on the end of the gear shift lever ?
or does your vehicle have the shifter on console between seats ?
