Hi the belt needs to be ajusted or replaced. take it to your lacal mechanic or if you are confident enough ajust it yourself. be careful. overtightning will do damage.

Honda accord 1996 code p1361 fix it

which 1996 engines, name the exact engine, can fix engines not knowing that.
P1361
this is the TDC sensor error.
loose wires to it
or loose timing belt?
its really the cam sensor, it tells the ECU/PCM where #1 fires and in turn, them all. (know one, know them all due to crank sensor data)

loose wires.
bad sensor
loose belt (or anything that makes the CAM bounce , dig?)

if your engine has the belt on the cam, ever change it , per
the maintenance shedules. 60,000 miles is common
you ignoring service???????
keep in mind i dont know what engine is in car.
but all honda bend the valves when the belt lets go.
so just maybe 1361 is a blessing, its telling you, hey buddy
going run me till i Grenade?

Fan belt is squeling

First thing to check is see if the belt is slipping.. .If so is belt loose ?
test by pushing down. Excess movement = loose solution = tighten.
Does it slip on engine tickover ..or when engine is revved?

Effect of deffective timing belt

If the timing belt breaks, the engine will not start because the valves will not open. If the belt is loose and still turning the cam, the engine may start but will not have the right compression.

AnWhat causes a loud squealing sound when I start the engine and/ or turn on the defroster?

will try to assist you. the loud squealing is most likely a belt thats loose. when you start the engine it squeals for what?30seconds? when you turn the heater on it puts a drag of power from your engine and the engine is trying to compensate. so it [engine] asks for power, puts drain on engine and the loose belt squeals.a loose belt will squeal, simply because it's trying to do it's job.but loosing traction. so it squeals. check for play in belts with engine off of course. grab each belt by hand. if it has more than1/4 inch play or [slack] it needs adjustment,or replacement. hope this helps! thank you for choosing fixya.com we are here for you 24/7 7days per week! good luck!!

How do you make the tensioner release to tighten the timing belt?

The belt tensioner keeps the belt tight inside each accessory pulley while the engine is running. The tensioner is made up of a spring-loaded arm. If the spring inside of the tensioner becomes loose then it will not be able to hold the belt properly. And belt will also get loose. The belt tensioner is on the engine underneath the alternator. Its fitted by bolt.To loose the belt you will need drive socket and breaker bar .Turn the breaker bar counterclockwise to release tension from the belt.Remove the mounting bolt at the top center of the tensioner arm.The tensioner arm is loose and will easily come out.If you in-case are to replace the tensioner then place the new tensioner in same place and tighten the bolt which you removed. Before removing or moving the belt check the position of the belt passing from each pulley.so that when you fit the parts there is no problem in fitting the parts.
After its done.Start the engine and see that belt and tensioner runs freely and belt moving from each pulley smoothly.
------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

How do I change the belts on my 2006 Hyundai Elantra?

You will need a floor jack to support the engine and a jack stand, along with the tools to take loose the alternator, compressor and adjustor for the main belt. You will need to take off the passenger side front wheel, and take loose the engine mount )support the engine with the floor jack before taking loose the engine mount on the fender. Only loosen and take loose the mount from the engine side. This needs to be pulled out of the way along with the tire in order to have access to the belts. start at the outer most belt and work in to remove the belts, then do the reverse for the install.

My engine got so noisy and when i removed the engine cover the timing chain looked a bit loose

The timing belt shouldn't cause the engine to be noisy unless it is so loose as to slap parts surrounding it. The engine will become noisy if a loose timing belt skips a tooth or 2 and messes up the timing of the engine.

On another hand, if it is visually loose at the timing gears it is imperative to get the system looked at by a mechanic. The belt may be ok but the tensioner may need to be replaced but if you replace the tensioner, you may as well replace the belt. Timing belt should have some play at the point between the crank pulley and the cam gears.

Take it to a certified mechanic to have it looked at and measure the play on the timing belt to check if it is still in specifications.

Timing belts are only good for about 60,000 miles. If you are over that I would recommend replacing the belt and tensioner but may vary from car to car. Check a repair manual for specifics to your vehicle.

Broken Belt under the 1998 Plymouth Breeze 2.4L DOHC 4 Cyl. engine.

Sounds like you have a broken belt that drives the alternator, water pump and maybe the power steering depending on engine type and size. Have the belt replaced before driving car as if you overheat the engine you could end up with major engine damage. The belt on the 2.4 litre engine is manually adjusted with a bolt on the alternator housing. To install this belt yourself maybe difficult if you do not know the routing of the belt around the number of pulleys involved. get help.
