I apologize for not being able to provide a diagram, and it's been a while since I've replaced a fuel pump in a Jeep like yours, however the fuel pump for that vehicle is located within the fuel tank. You will typically disconnect power from the battery,relieve the pressure from the fuel rail to the injectors. In most cases the test port on the fuel rail has a schrader valve "valve core" like a tire valve, which utilizing a rag to absorb excess fuel you can depress to relieve pressure. You will then have to detach the fuel filler tube and vent tube at the filler neck. With a floor jack supporting the tank ,there should be a couple of bolts holding either two straps around the tank or a large cover that covers and supports the tank itself ,that will need removal. Once you have removed these and you should be able to access the top of the tank. Bear in mind you don't put the fuel pump/sending unit wiring harness or the fuel and vent tubing under too much strain as you lower the tank. you should have enough room to disconnect this wiring and fuel tubing. the tubing will probably have a quick disconnect setup where it attaches to the pump assembly. Once you have the tank on the ground take a suitable (non sparking drift and hammer) to tap the retaining ring that holds the pump in the tank, around the openig to release it. The pump assembly will be spring loaded and the top may pop up out of the tank. Just be sure to protect yourself from any fuel that might spray up. To reinstall can be a slight chore sometimes, as the assembly is spring loaded. It usually goes in with just a slight amount of effort though. Remember to replace the fuel sock on the pump and o-ring seal around the top of the opening. You can purchase just the electric pump, but I'd recommend replacing the whole fuel pump assembly. It will cost more in parts, but longer part warranty and lesser chance of further damaging the assembly are the benefits. Naturally installation is the reverse of removal. I'd recommend a new fuel filter as well, or shortly thereafter. Chrysler factory replacement units recommend draining all the old fuel from the tank and replacing with new fuel (never done that, and with the price of gas, probably won't start) I have never seen an adverse effect from not doing so. I hope this posting has helped.

Here are instructions for replacment with a diagram of the fuel pump components my only suggestion would be instead of draining the tank and dropping the fuel tank if you unbolt the box and using a jack and and some wood lift the fuel tank side of the box this will give you access to the tank and fuel pump/ sending unit. It will save you time and the hastle of replacing the tank straps which are prone to snapping at the threads when trying to remove the nuts.If these brake you will have to replace them.

WARNING In almost every case, replacing the Mitsubishi electric fuel pump requires removal of the fuel tank. Please refer to the fuel tank removal and installation procedure at the end of this section.

  1. Lift or move aside the carpet in the rear cargo area.
  2. Remove the oval cover plate from the access hole.
  3. Disconnect the fuel pump harness connector at the rear of the fuel tank.
  4. Start the engine, allowing it to run until it runs out of fuel. This relieves pressure within the fuel system.
  5. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  7. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank into suitable container(s), each with an airtight lid.
  8. Carefully, and using two wrenches on the fittings, disconnect the high pressure fuel line and the main fuel line from the pump. Remove the high pressure fuel hose at the body-side main pipe connection, unfasten the pump-side connection. Wrap each joint in a rag before loosening; some pressure may remain within the system.
  9. Remove the fuel pump retaining nuts and carefully remove the pump from the tank.
The fuel pump may still contain liquid fuel. Drain it into a suitable container with an airtight lid before performing any tests or inspections.
To install:
  1. Carefully install the pump into the tank and install the 6 retaining nuts onto the studs. Tighten the nuts evenly and in a crisscross pattern to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
  2. Reinstall the high pressure and supply line to the pump.
WARNING Take great care when connecting the threaded high pressure lines. Start the threads by hand, then, while holding the hose side to keep it from turning, tighten the flare nut to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).
  1. Connect the pump wiring harness.
  2. Connect the negative battery cable. Turn the ignition key to ON but do not start the engine. You should hear the pump running. Allow it to run for about 10 seconds to build line pressure, then start the engine.
  3. After the engine has run smoothly for a minute or two, shut the ignition off and check the work area for any trace of leakage. Attend to any fuel leaks immediately, remembering that the system has repressurized and must be handled safely.
  4. Reinstall the cover on the access hole and replace the carpet in the cargo area.

When diagnosing engine problems, particularly a "no start" condition, the fuel pump function should be checked. Because of the difficulty in reaching the fuel pump connections, Mitsubishi automobiles have a conveniently located test connector under the hood. V6 Monteros have the connector taped to a wiring harness inside the right front kick panel, near the ECM and relays.
This connector bypasses all of the controls in the system (ignition switch, pump relay, etc.) and sends voltage directly to the pump. When power is applied to the pump you should be able to hear it running, although the in-tank pumps require you remove the fuel filler cap and listen at the filler.
To use the test connector, make certain the ignition is OFF. Great damage may be caused if the system is tested with the key on. Locate the test connector in the engine compartment (on later Monteros it is located under the right-hand side of the dashboard)-it is generally on a short lead out of a wiring harness and looks like a plug that isn't connected to anything. Once found, use a jumper wire to connect the test terminal to the positive battery terminal. Listen for the fuel pump; if it runs, you know the pump motor is good. While the pump is running, gently squeeze one of the fuel lines and confirm that the pump is delivering fuel pressure. If it does not run, the pump itself is most likely defective OR the connector to the pump is faulty.
When the pump is removed from the tank, it may be checked by applying battery voltage (+) to the connector and grounding the housing. Only run the pump for one or two seconds during this test; the pump can be damaged by running without liquid.
CAUTION Make certain the pump has been drained of residual fuel and is free of fuel vapors. Connecting and removing the test leads will cause sparks which can ignite any vapor in the area.

Check the flow at the fuel pump,a filter generally doesn't go bad/plug up within a minute so it may be the pump.Check flow to the pump from the tank also.

no job stated, just 1 injector,? pull?
which bank or both, matters........
same as all fuel rail injectors.really....cept access.

1: do the fuel depressurize steps in the service manual.
2: battery neg lug off.
3: gain access to the rail. (obvious , sorry) intake man pulled!
remove, fuel line and cross over,fuel lineis on right bank only.
4:remove the injector connectors, or if one,just one.
5: remove the injector rail 3 rail bolts or 6 if both banks.
6: they are now free.
this one photo makes it obvious.... no?

That would indicate an injector or injector pump problem, see a local shop, there are special testing that needs to be done to pin down the exact reason.

Try looking at fuel pump, check fuses, test for power to pump, is power to pump the more than likely failed pump.

Fuel systems can be a bit tricky, especially if it is all mechanical, which means you will have to time it. I would make sure you get all the air out of the system before you go with the pump. Diesel fuel systems work at very high pressures as well so be safe.

The best place to get this will be from a ford tractor dealer or from a tractor manual.The good thing about this is that most tractor engine ran similar fuel system set up so if you another tractor of the same age and HP you will probable be able to see how things are set out

First and foremost, understand your working with a highly flamable fluid here, make sure engine is cold, that being said, what you have to do is remove the fuel pressure(very important), then the fuel rail. All injectors are going to be on that fuel rail and will all have to come off at the same time. Be very careful when pulling on the injectors that some o-rings don't fall into the combustion chamber. remove the lock holding the injector in place and remove it. to install the new one, simply follow in the reverse order. make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the new injector on how to intall. On some you may need to lubricate the o-ring so it installs easier.

first of all you have no carb its fuel injected, at least you know you have spark, now do you have fuel pressure??, is the fuel pump working?/ if you have fuel and pressure then you have to check signal at the injectors, so if you have fuel pressure and a good injector pulse the next step is to check the injectors, this may require removal, good luck
