Question about 1997 BMW 328
I have loose convertible top ropes on the 1997 BMW328i I recently purchased. The seller tightened them up prior to purchase, but they quickly loosened again, leavin the fabric loose and catching the wind from open windows when the top is up. Not all of the eyelets are threaded with the rope either, although without a diagram I do not know if this is normal.
1. Are you aware of a repair manual that provides a diagram and instructions for how to lace and tighten these elastic ropes?
2. Are the loose ropes are also contributing to the top's frame not pulling far enough forward, when opened and closed, to clear the moving compartment lid? (A light pull on the side fabric from the front seat during movement provides enough clearance). Or, do I need to look at an additional problem causing this?
There is a repair kit avaiable from your dealer and a trimmer will have to install it this is called tension straps.
