Question about 2000 Dodge Durango

Check gauges light comes on

Whenever I hit the brake too fast, my check gauges light comes on and all my gauges go down to zero. So far it hasn't affected driving, but I am concerned and wondering if it's an indication of anything getting ready to go out.

Sounds like it could have a weak alternator. In gear the idle is always lower than in park. A low voltage situation could cause the gagues to act up

My check gauges light is on, oil hands goes over to zero, moves up, light goes off, when it drops back to zero, gauge light comes back on.

Well the warning light is supposed to come on if any of the gauges display a dangerous condition, such as no oil pressure.
You may have a faulty sending unit for the gauge, or a wiring problem, or the engine may actually be loosing oil pressure when the gauge drops.
You could replace the sending unit as a test, or have someone check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge.

My dash brake light comes on sometimes when I brake, or hit a dip in the road or even start off to drive.

Check the brake fluid level. If its low, its time to have the brakes checked for wear. Whenever a "light comes on" check the fluid level associated with the light, thats always the FIRST thing to do.

My dashboard and gauges keep flickering on and off

sound like you have a lose connection it could be the cables on to the dash or the socket it fits to. you would need to remove the dash and clean the connection and re fit it. if you push on the dash does it stop. ? just check this first as some times its just a tiny amount of play in the connections that's the problem .

My 2000 Jeep GC laredo had the same problem. I changed the oil pressure sensor (I think that is what it is called) and it now reads really high on my gauge but I havent had any more problems and I dont get that annoying ding when it hits zero anymore when I let off the throttle. In case you dont know, the sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine back towards the fire wall. You just have to disconnect the wiring harness and use a large socket to unscrew the sensor. Once you locate the sensor it should only take 5 minutes to replace. Hope this helps.

I have a 1986 F250 with a 6.9l diesel engine that I recently replaced the master cylinder and the power booster on. Now I have no brake lights I have tested the brake light switch for incoming voltage and...

Check the brake light switch adjustment. With the new master cylinder and booster the distance you push the brake pedal down may have changed and not be far enough. Test for power going out of the switch when you press pedal with your hand, if you get none readjust the switch by moving it away from the point where the pedal hits it. You should be able to push hard enough with your hand to make the brakelights come on if the engine is running.
