Question about 2001 Dodge Neon

1 Answer

I removed the ECM from my 2001 Dodge Neon. Called around to junkyards to find the ECM cheaper and they are all telling me the first 3 numbers of serial number should be 529 and those are the numbers I don't have. I was also told to check the manufacturer year on car to see when it was made and it was made 11-2000 is this a difference? Now what should I do? Do I have to tell the junkyards that its a 2000 Dodge Neon instead?

Well I just replaced my battery and 2 alternators because the first one was a bad one. And apparently my battery light keeps coming on and I took my car to advanced auto where they tested my alternator and battery and neither one were getting enough voltage. Called a dodge dealer and they said my computer would need replaced. So I removed the computer from my neon, got the serial number (or I think I did) called around to junkyards and they all told me the serial number should start with 529 and thats not what mine starts with. So I posted a question on this website(fixya.com) and one of your apprentices told me to check the manufacter year on my door pillar, did that and it was made in November of 2000. Now I am not sure if I should tell the junkyards it is a 2000 neon or what I am to do? Or if I am looking at the wrong numbers on the computer?

NO, IT IS A 2001
WHAT THEY MEAN IS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE O.E.M. PART # THAT STARTS WITH 529 AND THEN THE LAST 2 DIGITS SHOULD BE: -AD or -AF or -AF or -AK
THATS THE INFO THEY NEED!!

Will a 2003 engine work in a 2001 neon 2003 neon engine work in a 2001 neon if not why

The best way to tell is to get the VN numbers on both and ask a dealer repair shop;. I can say that one of the issues that you are going to have is sensors. They have changed the sensors arrays from year to year with improvements and therefore the ECM has to be changed also. You are going to be looking at block size and type and you can also get that by reading the casting numbers on the block.

Where is the ECM located on a 2001 Dodge Neon? My check engine light has come on, and the odometer is blinking "fuse". I took it to a shop, and the error code is reading "601- ECM...

Take it to a dealership it sounds expensive but in the long it will be cheaper and faster the may even have the computer in stock but it sounds to me like you might have something else wrong because if the ipc says fuse then it is not reviving power from the iod fuse.
