2001 Dodge Neon making whining noise and vibrating car

Started out as a thumping noise. Has gotten worse. Now the car is vibrating. Problem stops completely if you turn left. Car is currently out of state with my wife, but my mechanic and the service tech at the dealership here say sounds like a wheel bearing. Place my wife took it is saying its the transmission. I can't afford to have the mission rebuilt, if that is even what the problem is. Another place says drive axle.

Any help would be appreciated. Wife is supposed to come home in a couple days and we'd like to know if she should get the car fixed, drive ti like it is and fix it when she gets home, or sell the car for scrap and either fly or rent a car to drive home.

It could be the CV joint and if that's the case. have that replaced there, don't want her to break down on the way home. Have her drive in an empty parking lot slow with the windows down and ask her to make sharp turns to the left then the right. If she can hear and feel anything that may seam broken then it's going to be a bad CV Joint. Ask her when she is driving and and the vibration starts does turning to the right make it worst and have her apply the brakes lightly and if the vibration or noise change. if it does then the wheel bearing is bad and she should make it home. just don't have her drive like me running from the EX. Last and the easy thing to check is the tire, it could have a broken belt know as tire belt separation and can be driver home as long as she does not drive like me as i mentioned above. Good luck and hope this helps friend.

I would have to say it is a hub bearing, from my experiences that is what it is, don't let them do the transmission.

Loud Vibration / Sound Under Acceleration And Starting Engine.

Get the engine mounts checked. A bad mount may allow part of the engine to lie on a body or frame part, allowing engine vibrations to become very loud. Torquing of the engine (under load) can cause the same type problems.

MOST LIKELY HAS A PLUGGED TRANSMISSION FILTER.
TORQUE CONVERTOR CLUTCH FAILURE COMMON.
CHANGE TRANSMISSION FILTER AND ROAD TEST.
IF NOISE IS GONE AND RUNS NORMALLY, CHANGE TORQUE CONVERTOR AND RESEAL TRANSMISSION.

Makes a loud whining noise and is slipping when

Verify that your trans fluid is at the correct level. When if at all was the trans last serviced?

If fluid is low, try bringing it up to proper level with Valvoline ATF+4 fluid. You need to used either fluid from a dealer, or the valvoline brand which is approved by Dodge.

2002 Neon front end passenger wheel clicks when turning right

Replace the CV axles. I say replace both of the axles because if one is going out, the other one is right behind it. This should get rid of your clicking sound/vibration.
