My car won't start

With headlights on, try to start the car.
While engaging the starter: Do the lights dim? Do you hear anything? If so, what do you hear?

What happens while turning the key?

I just had the same problem this morning. The light indicator for 'door open' is on and now my corolla won't start. Were you able to start your car?

Check the gear lever connection with the gearbox.
Check the gearbox oil level and colour. Replace if necessary.

Same thing happened to me. Turned out to be a blown Alt fuse (under the hood behind the battery, you'll have to unbolt the whole fuse box though. That fuse is bolted in from underneath) and a blown am2 fuse (look underneath the dash of the driver side from inside the car). I switched those out and the car started right up

here is a nice site with some solutions.

Disconnect the battery.

Remove the lower plastic covers to aid in access.

Remove the battery cable lug from the starter and the signal wire.

Remove the two 14mm bolts holding the starter on and lower out the bottom.

*sometimes it helps the clearance to remove the oil filter.
