Question about 2001 Dodge Stratus
I recently bought a 2001 Dodge Stratus SE (4-cyl) from a GSA fleet car auction in Maryland. The car has 48,500 miles on it and in good shape. However, the car’s MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) remains lighted on all the time when engine runs and the car is on drive. My mechanic could not find any specific reason and advised me to keep on driving for a while and see what will happen. However, my mechanic certified the car for MD state inspection. Following the user manual, I tested the car for MIL. I turned the ignition key clockwise but did not start the car. The MIL was lighted on for a few seconds and then blinks for 5 times and returned to steady light again. As per user manual, it indicates the car is “not ready” for OBD test. I found the car runs very well and no noise in engine. Is it a bad car for buy? If not, what’s the cause and remedy?
Sometimes you cant trust those dummy lights, i would keep driving it or have your car parked and turned off and turn you key on to aux. and turn off and the turn on aux again, and the ck engine light will blink count the blinks and spaces and the car will give you a code and if there is something wrong, then the code is were you want to start, look on line for the code or get a 2001 dodge stratus manual that will tell you as well and then go from there
