Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Car overheated and dumped antifreeze. I put more antifreeze in, drove car around, fluid is leaking underneath. Not oily; about the size of a quarter drops. Is it the bottom radiator hose or the water pump that is bad?

Antifreeze dumping on passenger side. Will not go 2 miles without overheating and needing more antifreeze.

All GM cars from 1994 to on up the 3100/3400 engine is famous for bad intake gaskets. When the gasket goes you loose coolant by either externally outside the engine or internally inside the engine. Check the oil for overfull condition and it will look like bright orange or milkshake color. Also if you drove on it overheating or if its full and overheats right away you also blew a head gasket. A compression test will confirm this. If you replace with good gaskets with the metal and rubber type do not use the plastic cheaper version. Then the intake gasket leak will never happen again.

Sudden major loss of power!!

if the smoke was white it means your engine is leaking antifreezeinto the cylinders and burning it in the combustion chamber. the engine block may be cracked because the block probably froze during the winter as far as the catalytic converter it is probably clogged because the antifreeze is coating the inside of the converter

99 Sunfire Coolant keeps dumping

You need to find the source of the leak. it hasn't overheated yet because you keep catching it and re-filling. From your description, it sounds a lot like a bad water pump seal (part of pump) but without physically looking you can't be sure of that. when the pump seal begins to fail, internal pressure while running often will drive the seal tighter against the shaft stopping the leak. as pressure drops as the engine cools, the seal relaxes and permits seepage.
With time, that will change and it will leak all the time.

Dodge 318 overheating.

HI. It could possibly be the the thermostat is stuck shut. If thats the case when the vehicle warms up it will probably overheat all the time. The best way to tell is buy a new one and change it. They are usualy around $10.00 at any autoparts store. If you change it and it still overheats, it could be the waterpump.

Slight leak from bottom of radiator

Transmission fluid will be red in color. Radiator antifreeze will be a different color either lime or orange. Antifreeze has a slimy consistency while trans fluid is simply oily. Put a piece of cardboard under the engine to see if you can pinpoint exactly where it is coming from. Could it be condensation from the a/c? If so, that will be clear water.

Anti freeze all over the place

it could be antifreeze that was on the frame after changing the radiator the best way to tell is run car through a car that has the bottom wash or in a self wash and on... rinse... spray the area around radiator ...then check again later for antifreeze on ground
