Gas guage does not work problem in tank how do i fix it

use your odometer. fill up tank, calculate mileage you can get on a full tank of gas.

could be the float in the tank might have a hole in it and is stuck

You can take out the part of the dash where the guages are and change the little sensor/fuse behind the fuel guage, they should have a replacement part at orileys or autozone

the float in the gas tank is most likely the problem. some cars have access to the tank from the trunk others you have to take the tank out. should get someone that knows how to do it to fix it because it can be extremely dangerous working around gas.

I have a1987 F-150. The gas gauge for the rear tank always indicate that the tank is full when I know it is not. I try to put gas in but the tank won't let any gas in. Is there some type of sensors inside the tank that won't allow the tank to be filled or is this a guage problem?

It is not easy to remove the fuel tank, the guage is inside the fuel tank.. The sensor for the odometer is on the transfer case on the transmission. It may be better to go toprofessional. Good Luck.

i don not think both sending units are bad, there is probly a broken wire between the front tank and the instrument cluster, .

Most likely the gas guage sending unit in the fuel tank is defective, 99% of the time that is the case

there is a sending unit in the tank this has probably clogged or wore out it has a filter on it, with gas debries this will make your guages stop working correctly

replace sending unit by dropping tank with gas out of tank and then pull out sending unit replace with new one
