when the small spring that flips the fuel door open when the button/ lever is pressed/pulled ,it gives the impression that the control is not working. Check out the problem by having someone operate the control while you are listening at the door. If you hear the latch moving then the spring is broken/missing. You may be able to get to the latch by removing the boot trim and moving the latch enough to open the door.
It appears that the door is not closing far enough for the latch to move to the second position in it's movement. ie on not closing the door properly you will see that it is latched but not closed . Push it harder and it closes properly. Lubricate the latch mechanism and you may have to adjust the catch position to allow the lock to go to the fully locked position POssible rubbers to cold and stiff to allow the door to close easily
This fix is for 2011 rear manual door. You may experience some light turns on while driving over a bump or take a sharp turn. Your rear hatch indicator said door is opened. The courtesy switch is located inside the rear hatch latch assembly. Nothing more but a simple thin lever line leave spring that contacts the ground pole to tell body ECU the door is opened. The spring is so thin that it bent out of shape overtime therefore when you close the door it doesn't get pushed away from the ground pole far enough caused intermittently false door open alarm. ALl you have to do is to remove the door latch assembly. Separate the actuator from the latch. Look into the latch you would see a copper like spring one end rests onto the ground pole. Jam your screw driver between the latch housing and spring lightly pride it away from the pole to unbend it. . Manually close the latch and look to see if it gets pushed away from the pole. If it doesn't try to unbend it again. If you have or know how to use a ohm meter than check for continuity between spring and it housing. You should get 0.3-1.0. The part of the latch that is attached to the body is adjustable, It has somehow been pushed too far in, and the latch on the door cant reach it, or, somehow, the latch mechanism on the door is already closed. You will need tools to fix either problem. If it is a loose striker, you may be able to wiggle the assembly out enough to get it to latch, but it will need to be tightened. The head on that bolt is called a torx. I'd be a T-40 or a T-45, but it may be a bigger drive than that. If it is second option, you will need to pull the door handle, and then using a screwdriver or something similar, gently pry the latch back into the open state. It should be easy to do. If it isn't, stop prying.
Actually, if it's either problem, it would be both. They tend to cause each other. A closed latch will push the striker away, and a striker that's pushed back to far can cause the latch to close and miss it.
Two things happen. One the latch is already latched and therefore it's closed before the gate shut, When you try to close it you might notice that the door don't close all the way. This doe'snt have to be thwe case. the other thing that happens if the lock mechanism is working, You here it click? The latch is stuck as the opener is stuck. You might get lucky and spray the latch with Blaster or other rust buster type penatrant. Theres angles though the opening of the latch . Spray on several angles and repleatly close the door trying to vibrate the Penatrant into the stuck area. Looking at the latch use a screw driver to move the latch and see if you can cycle it though it's positions to see if you can latch and unlatch it with the tool and reopen by pullung the handle ( you may need to try ther inside handle too and even the remote openner if you have one. Ussaaaly you need to push the button twice to open the rear hatch so it may take a few trys and spraying to get it to come loose.. Some vehicals stay closed a long time and stuck is the way to think.. But if the door is used often the linkage inside the door mayh have come off the the latch is closed and the linkage doesn't open the laTCH AND THE THING MANAGED TO GET CLOSED WITHT THE DOOR OPEN.
is the door latch mechanism moving and moving far enough to release the latch to open the door,you can`t remove the the striker plate from inside a panel as the bolts that hold the plate go in from the open side of the door jam,these do have a problem with the doors coming off the rails which mean that if this is the problem then the weight of the door will hinder the door from opening you may have to hit the door hard at the latch end of the door or even pry the door open at the same end to get the latch to pop open.the latch may even be seized or just jammed closed. good luck
If the latch is in the closed position, simply use a screwdriver to pry as if the door was being opened at the same time as you pull on the handle to open it. This will return the latching part to its proper position and you can then close the door. If the latch is already open and won't close when you shut the door, the quickest way to get it closed is to heat the latch with a blowtorch. Don't get close enough to the door that you scorch and burn the paint but heat the area arond the latch for about 30 seconds or so and the door should latch. You could also do this with a hair dryer or heat gun but it will take longer. Open and close it a few times quickly and it should work properly for a while. To keep it from happening again, once you have it working freely then spray into the latch with some WD-40 or RustCheck. Don't be shy with the spray and get it right into the latch through the door. If it keeps being a problem then before you spray it with a lubricant use a small can of lock de-icer once you have the door working. After that put the lubricant in. Hope this helps.
This is a lite on, when the door jam switch in not in far enough to cut the ground circuit. If you have slack in the door with it closed .You may have to adjust the door latch on the door pillor post! You may check to see if you can rattle the door while it is closed if so, it needs the adjustment corrected.Otherwise it may be the door jam switch itself,at fault.
Manually UNLOCK the door button or slide. HOLDING the OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE in the OPEN position, with your other hands finger, LIFT OPEN the latch, and close your door. Hope this helps.
