Question about 2002 Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

In my 2002 Accent, the check engine light blinked 10 times this morning, the car ran OK and after this ?event? the light did not relight. What was happening, was this a code of some sort or a possible ?false indication? from a sensor?

Don't worry about it. if it comes on and stays on, have it diagnosed. most autoparts stores will do it for free.

Blinking means that the problem is so bad that it can damage the engine if you drive it. You need to get a code reader from an autoparts store and read the codes to see what the issue is.

If I understand you correctly, you have a bad TPS (throttle position sensor). nothing more. Replace the TPS... the oil cap has nothing in common with the TPS... that's a fact!

first thing i need to know is did the timing belt break?
second is are you sure you aligned the timing marks and after the belt tensioner was tight you rechecked to make sure the timing stayed where you had it.
next step would be a compression check to if a valve was bent whenchanging the belt
i have seen this happen and this engine is an interferance engine.
