Question about 2005 Ford Freestyle
After leaving my freestyle sitting idle and running, I returned to the car and shifted into reverse and it died. Luckily I got it restarted and was able to go. Later in the evening on the same day, I pulled into a drive-in restaurant, left the car running, and let it sit for a while. When I was ready to leave, I shifted it to reverse and began to pull out of the parking space. While it was still in reverse, the vehicle's RPM started increasing and it seemed like it was trying to go forward. I had to press harder on the brake to keep it from lurching forward and hitting someone else. Again, I turned off the motor and turned it back on; it started without a problem, however, on the way home it seemed to run sluggish.
Another issue with the freestyle - I am the primary driver so I am aware of the pace the turn signal keeps. Every now and then the turn signals flash at a faster pace. When they do this, my remote entry key doesn't work - won't lock, unlock, or go into panic mode. Is there a connection between the remote, turn signals, and the electronics that make the signals operate?
I had the same problem with my 05 freestyle with the rpm. Took the throttle body off and cleaned it haven't had a problem since. I read on another forum that the throttle body will sometimes come a little loose and cause this problem.
