Question about 2001 Lexus Gs 300

3 Answers

The yellow check oil light came on over a year ago on my 2001 Lexus GS 300 a few days after an oil change. Took it back to the dealer and no oil leaks. Have had regular oil changes and car runs great. It's just annoying that light stays on. Any suggestions?

Have the system tested for the problem that turned the light on, there will be a electronic system control trouble code in the memory of the computer, this will tell what system in the car is having a fault, this light has nothing to do with oil changes it does have to do with the electronics that control the engine and the emission control system, until the fault is fixed the light will stay on.

Could be as simple as an oil pressure switch or low pressure through the oil pump. Both of these are possible whithout you seeing a change in the oil level itself. More likely problem would be the oil pressure switch as you'ld probably hear tapping noises in the engine compartment if you had a low oil pressure issue. Best of luck.

VSC/ Check Engine Light

My 2000 Lexus GS 400 just had the VSC/VSC off light and the check engine light come on. I would have to push the accelarator peddle all the way down to get it to go. Took it to the Toyota dealer and the code pulled up as the Throttle Position Sensor was out. Purchased one and having it put in. Will update if this fixes the problem.

2002 RX 300

I have a 2001 RX 300 and mine has done the same thing. The first time it happened the dealer had me bring it in. It was under warranty, and they replaced something, which I can't remember. Then it happened a year or so ago, and the service rep at the dealership told me that her car does the same thing, and I should just let it reboot itself in a day or so. It did it two days ago driving back from a long trip. The service rep said to bring it in because she didn't know what was going on (I think she was new).

It's now resolved itself again. It must be a fluke with the model, but I don't worry about it.
