Question about Chevrolet Malibu

4 Answers

My daughter is driving a 1999 Chevy Malibu which did not come with an owners manual. One of the indicator lights is on, along with the check engine light, and we do not know what it is for. Ultimately what I would like to do is find a copy of the owner's manual for the car. Can someone help me? Thank you. Teri.

the symbol is three wavy lines one above the other (like water) with a downward pointing arrow above them. I was thinking wiper fluid, but she filled that that up and the light is still on. Could it be the radiator? Just had work done to the car (alternator and some wiring issues) and then an oil change.

I may be able to locate the owners manual and send it to you, but you can take the car to Autozone, they will hook it up, and tell you whats causing the light to come on. Why not its free! Let me know!

What does the other light look like? any symbol in the light? as far as the check engine goes it is an indication that one or more of over 200 faults has occured in the electronic engine control system or emission control system, you will need to have a trouble code test run to determine the cause of the chek engine light.

My 2004 chevy malibu beeps like if i turned on the alarm but beeps even when im in the car

I'm wondering if there is a battery to replace or something has appeared on the dashboard lights to indicate an overdue service or the 'check engine light'. Maybe the brake pads need replaced. Check your owner manual for issues or log into a Chevy Malibu user forum and find out what other people have done.

Smoke alarms will bleep if they detect the battery level is too low. I'm basing my answer on this type of preventative maintenance.

Check engine light is flickering on and off--losing power as I drive--car is a Chev. Malibu

A flashing check engine light indicates a misfire that has the potential to damage your catalytic converter.
I would start by inspecting the area where the ignition wires plug onto the ignition coils. Any burnt coils towers or ignition wires indicate the need for replacement. Your misfire issue regardless of the cause, needs to be repaired before your converter is ruined. Good luck.

Check engine light came on and now shifts hard from park to drive

The engine light is telling you, you have a transmission problem which sound like a shift solenoid. If you take the care to a local garage or dealer you can have them scan the vehicle for the problem code, which will tell you which solenoid is bad.

99 Chevy Malibu belt chirping noise problem.

one or more of the pulley's is defective, most likely the tensioner pulley, but check them all for wear and side to side movement which indicates a worn bearing, this causes the belt to not run true and chirp.
