Chevy Venture have O2 error code and out of gas with 1/3 tank

I have a problem with the up stream O2 sensor that I am planning to change out. will this cause erronious reading from my fuel tank. the last time I ran out of gas I had 1/3 tank of gas with 75 miles remaining on my display. the fuel gage immediately drops from 1/3 tank to empty and the low fuel light comes on. the calculated fuel left also goes to low. the van will then run out of gas in the next mile.

The O2 sensor is in no way connected with your fuel gauge. Fuel float on sending unit in the tank is sticking (not sliding or pivoting up and down like it should) or the sending unit (fancy name for what is essentially a rheostat or potentiometer, a bit like a volume control. Wait until the tank is empty or near empty, gas is heavy. Drop the tank (careful of the wiring and note where they all go). Carefully remove the sending unit and inspect it by operating the float mechanism and see if it sticks about 1/3 of the way down or not. If it isn't sticking and there isn't something like a broken baffle in the tank interfering with the float and the connections were good, replace the sending unit.

02 sensors read the exhaust fumes and then adjust the car's air/fuel ratio by means of the car's computer. IF the gas guage is off, that would be the sending unit in the gas tank that is sticking

How do I find out Which Oxygen Sensor is Bad, Upstream or Down-Stream ?? I Pop 2 Error Codes. #1- Spark Plugs, #2 O2 Sensor(s) [doesn't designate which one as my Car has 2]

with out the codes cant tell which o2 sensor is causing the issue , before you change any sensors i'd recommend using a fuel addative , get one that cover the catalytic convertor as well as fuel and engine parts , give it a long run at a good speed to get the engine to a high operating temperature as most o2 sensor issues are because the tip is coated in carbon etc and cant detect the exhaust gases, another thing to check before replacing o2 sensors is the air intake pipe work as a split , tear etc in the air intake side will give a false reading on the exhaust side as the intake readings are affected by the split , hope this helps

2003 chevy aveo #1 O2 sensor

#1 is the up-stream sensor (The O2 sensor located before the Catalytic Convertor). #2 is the down-stream O2 sensor. This sensor is located after the Catalytic Convertor. I hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions concerning this issue. Good luck.

Where is the up stream o2 sensor in the chevy venture?

One of the easiest ways to locate the upstream sensor is to follow the exhaust line from the engine towards the catalytic converter. In most vehicles, the upstream sensor is close to the exhaust manifold compared to the catalytic converter.

What does the oxygen sensors look like in a 2003 Chevy Venture (warner Brothers Edition) ? How many are there? Where are they located? Can you show a picture of them in place? How do i replace them? Chevy...

There should be an O2 sensor before and after the catalytic converter on your vehicle, so it will have 2 sensors. You'll need a 7/8" open end wrench or an O2 sensor socket to replace them.

It'll look something like this: http://www.carsteering.com/data/all_images/48-01718.jpg

What is error code 2097

Hi there! error code P2097 means that DOWN STREAM FUEL SYSTEM 1/2 RICH
if your car is a dodge neon 2.0L second gen probably you need to check this:

O2 sensor 1
exhaust leak before 02 sensor 1
O2 sensor circuir maybe the harnes can be check if the wires of the O2 sensor is not burn sometimes the wires is touching the exhaust manifold and then start to burn and wires start to fail or harnes

O2 return signal
fuel contamination

try this:

reset your ecu or pcm (its the same) how? ok take a 10mm wrench and disconnect the battery all night and tomorrow in the morning connect your battery start your car and then drive if the check ligth comes on again then shure you have a problem there! so start to check if your O2 sensor is ok, or maybe you have to change the fuel filter (you have to change every 60,000km)

check too if you can see any exhaust leak!

hope this help !

I received a P1154 OBD code error. It says

DTC P0131 or P0151
Circuit Description
Heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) are used for fuel control and post catalyst monitoring. Each HO2S compares the oxygen content of the surrounding air with the oxygen content in the exhaust stream. The HO2S must reach operating temperature to provide an accurate voltage signal. Heating elements inside the HO2S minimize the time required for the sensors to reach operating temperature. The powertrain control module (PCM) supplies the HO2S with a reference, or bias, voltage of about 450 mV. When the engine is first started, the PCM operates in Open Loop, ignoring the HO2S voltage signal. Once the HO2S reaches operating temperature and Closed Loop is achieved, the HO2S generates a voltage within a range of 0-1,000 mV that fluctuates above and below bias voltage. High HO2S voltage indicates a rich exhaust stream. Low HO2S voltage indicates a lean exhaust stream. If the PCM detects an HO2S voltage that stays below a specified value, DTC P0131 sets for HO2S bank 1 sensor 1, or DTC P0151 sets for HO2S bank 2 sensor 1.
