AC switch can fail, fues should be marked in owners manual and by the AC fuse on the fuse block. There is also a AC compressor relay than could fail. Low refrigerant can also keep the compressor from coming on as a protective measure. If it has been cycling on and off before it finally just stopped working you probably have a leak in the system and the R134A has leaked way down.
Well, there isn't a fuse for the A/C switch. the A/C is controlled by the ECM. Unfortunately, you will have to have the A/C checked. It will take a scanner and a set of gauges to do it. The scanner checks the sensors in the system. The gauges will tell you what needs replaced, if anything.. Some times all it needs is recharged.

Knowing make model and year would help. Most newer vehicles, 2000 and newer, will adjust the idle control up to compensate for the compressor engaging. Possible there is an issue in the idle air control valve or electrical circuit.
Turn off ur car before u work on replacing any fuses. Find the main fuse box by looking under the hood in the engine compartment.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Car Key Programmer
Find the AC compressor. The pulley on it has an electric clutch that allows the compressor to run when the AC is on and not when it is off. With the engine running you should be able to see if the clutch is turning or not. The pulley turns all the time the engine is running only the clutch behind the pulley starts and stops. Look at the pulley with the AC off. Have someone turn it on and see if the clutch engages to turn the compressor. If it doesn't engage there are a couple thing that could be wrong. First the clutch has burned out and no longer works. The fuse on the AC clutch is blown. Check the fuse. More likely, if the cold air has been getting warmer, the AC system has a refrigerant leak. The system has a low pressure switch that prevents the clutch from engaging when the refrigerant pressure is too low. If the fuse is good then you need to have a qualified AC Technician check the system. Thanks for using FixYa. Gaker
Make sure the cooling fan turns on. When the car is hot and idling and the temp gauge is high, make sure the electric cooling fan is on. If it does not come on, if you have AC, turn on the AC and see if the fan turns on. If it turns on with AC but not by itself, then the temp switch is not working. It the fan does not turn on with AC, then the fan is broken, wire broken, fuse blown.
The AC clutch is passenger compartment fuse # 5. This is the fuse for the circuit through the function selector switch to the AC pressure cut off switch & the AC pressure cycling switch.
The engine compartment fuse # 23 & 3 control the WOT ( wide Open Throttle ) relay to the AC clutch diode & AC compressor clutch solenoid.
If it has the auto air functions. On the passenger side under glovebox remove the black cover under the dash and there is a hidden fuse block with a ac fuse. Check for this a very common issue. Also if the ac is fully charged you can unplug the low pressure switch located on the accumulator( silver canister located by the relays towards the firewall) and take a wire and place between the two terminals just make sure the compressor will does come on.If the ac is turned on and you jump that switch and the compressor does turn and ac starts working then a good possibilty that the low pressure may be bad. Would check the fuse first.
Check for a fuse that indicates radio and replace it if it's burnt through or melted or discolored. The Buicks have dash controls that require expensive repairs sometimes to get the temperature controls to work so some people jump around the controls by installing a separate toggle switch that directly turns the AC unit off and on for 92 through 94 Buicks. Any AC shop can install the bypass wires.
you don't have enough pressure in your system. odds are you have a leak someplace and the factory installed a saftey switch to keep the ac from running when there is no pressure. This way you don't end up burning up your compressor.
