Question about 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 2WD

1 Answer

Transmission Issue When my diesel 3/4 ton truck is not driven for three days or more when i first place it in drive it will not move then after sitting for a minute it will finally take off. The transmission shifts through every gear smoothly and is full of fluid but the last time i drove it if you go over about 60mph it starts to lose power. The the engine rpms stay steady the truck just starts slowing down.

same problem indicated on an isuzu diesel that turned out to be problem injector causing the ECM to shut down and then allow a restart-- no codes shown and the service center was stumped until a diesel repair shop checked it out and found an injector control was faulty
check for vent problem in the fuel tank starving the diesel for fuel

My 2008 Land Rover lr3 will not move in the drive position. What has happened?

No doubt, a transmission issue. Begin by verifying fuel level and condition in the transmission, and proceed directly to the transmission shop.

1952 Fordson major diesel hyd fluid gets into front tranny

Sounds as if the input shaft seal for the hydraulic pump that is driven off the transmission is bad and allowing the fluid to enter the transmission housing. When the fluid gets too full it aerates and causes the "root beer float" fluid.

Will a transmission out of a dodge 3/4 ton with a v10 fit in a 1995 of the same?

yes they both use a 48re trans. so does the diesel. a 5.9gas and 5.2 uses a 47re. all dodge v10s and 5.9 diesels in all years 2 wheel and 4 x4 use a 48re. some models don't have the overdrive portion on the back of trans but you can put it on one that doesn't and you can add or remove a transfer case to any of them. you can even use a 47 re it just has weaker bands and cluches

My 1993 chevy 3/4 ton 4X4 wont shift? Its a new transmission and i also just put a new torque converter in it! Speedometer don'w work also!

If your transmission is part electronic, its the tps throttle positioning sensor. if its a diesel it will be on the passenger side of the injector pump, if it's gas same side. if it gets loose or goes bad you will have these problems. and your speedometer problem is likely the speed sensor located at the back end of the transmission. very easy to replace. the tps on a diesel not so easy. good luck!

Tow haul mode has no change on transmission operation. Truck barely moves a 6000lb trailer when starting off on a hill. 3/4 ton with a 6.0 and 3.73 rear end.

tow mode gives ur transmission a longer shift point to relive strain on engine while driving -it doesnt give it more horse power to start off a hill

Flywheel area, possibly transmission

the noise might be from a loose bendix on the starter,
the bendix is a little gear in fron of the starter see if there is any visual point to see it nad make sure it keeps away from the flywheel if not have the starter repalced, this bendix have a spring to keep it away from the flywheel also with a flash ligh try to see the closes you can to the center of flywheel sometimes they get crack where they atached to the engine,
and on the shifting might be a bad transmission or the shifter has to be inspected for your mechanic
