To change the valve pan cover gaskets you have to first take the intake off the engine and don't forget which bolt goes where then and only then you would have access to the valve pan covers.

Does it do it if you disconnect the idle air control valve ?
You need to know if its a vac leak or if the computer is making the valve open too far.

Do i need to change my val cover gasket and do u think that will solve myproblem of my oil leaking so bad i am not sure i think that is my problem the val covergasket needs to be changedchanged

Wipe the cover and the area below it clean with some rags. Then run the car awhile and check if the clean area has new oil that leaked out. Usually oil leaking from the top of the engine is the valve cover.

Mitsubishi Montero Sport 2003 3.0 needs head gaskets and valves replaced. How many of each are needed? And what type of valves are needed?

This I believe is a SOHC (12 valve) engine. If in fact new valves are required I would purchase rebuilt heads and use yours for cores (each head will cost @ $250) I have done this job on my 1990 montero over a weekend. Just get the right parts, keep it clean, take your time and be patient.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
