I have basically the same behaviour than the A8 of Bray. Bray: how did you fix the problem with your A8?
The behavior of my Audi is very odd, sometimes it starts perfectly and sometimes it does not start at all. I have identified that when I insert the key and I get the message on the screen Press the break pedal to ignite then it starts and then I get the message OK. When I insert the key and I get the message OK directly then the car does not react when I turn the Key. (actually the intensity of the panel light decrease slightly but nothing else happens).
I have got replaced the Start Engine and the Start Engine Relay and the problem persist. Now the mechanics at AUDI tells me that they have not found anything that they thought could related and should replace the main CPU.

factory immobilisor i think ,try the spare key
SOURCE: 1999 Audi A6. The car will not start, engine
Have you tried spraying starter fluid into the air intake? If it starts you may have a fuel pump or fuel filter issue. I'm assuming that you've verified that you have spark at this point. Good luck!

hi well this is a bit long so if you can bare with me i will try explain how to , clear system to decode, and recode as this is what it sounds like that the coding has gone from the ignition key....ok here goe's
to sync key with car
depress lock or unlock button
manually lock the drivers door within 30 seconds of the above
system should now work....if not do next bit
switch ignition on ( using non chip key )
manually lock drivers door using key ( another one, hopefully you will have more than one)
press unlock button 5 times, in one second intervals
indicators flash 5x for every time signal is received
switch ignition off and remove key
that's the de-programming done...
to de-program the system if above fails..........
switch ignition on ( use key without remote )
manually lock drivers door using key to be synced with car
complete the following within 30 seconds of doing above
within 5 seconds press the unlock button on key
indicators should flash once
wait 5 seconds
press unlock button once to confirm programming
vehicle should unlock
this also will confirm deactivation of programming mode
switch ignition off remove key..that should be it, then try new programed key in ignition.
to re-program system and sync with key
switch ignition on
manually lock drivers door using key ( another one, hopefully you will have more than one)
press unlock button 5 times, in one second intervals
indicators flash 5x for every time signal is received
switch ignition off and remove key
that should be it, if no joy then will have to main dealer i am afraid...hope this helps
SOURCE: Audi wont start or even
try key in door,unlock/hold over, windows will go down, then lock/hold over, windows will go up,then press/hold unlock button on remote for 30 secs, this will reset immobiliser.
Car
not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition
coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
To
confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.
