Question about 1997 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota. The truck will not start even with the starter operating correctly. I checked the the lectricity going to spark and there was none.I did go backward to see the source of the problem. Then I checked the distributor witn same results no electricity to the distributor. Then I checked the coil and it was not sending electricity to the distributor. Now I don't know what else to do. How do I check the electricity going to the coil by the 2 contact connector going? Will a bad coil induce this problem? Please help me out! Edward

your fuel pump may not be supplying the correct amount of pressure, this is pretty much a trait of Dodge, it will click and make noise, but the pressure just isn't there, spray some starter fluid into the air cleaner system, and turn it over, if it starts this is your problem

Distributor caps are notorious for doing this (hairline cracks), as are spark plug leads. I usually have a look at night time, to see if any sparks are going where they shouldn't.
