my bmw 318i 1994 will idle fine but as soon as i put my foot on the accelerator to rev it up it will stall and occasionaly back fire. any help will be much appreciated,

I'd check my spark plugs if I were you. They're not under a lot of pressure when the engine is idling however, when you rev it they have to work a lot harder and this is where the fault may lay.

If they are good, then check the HT leads. It definitely sounds like something to do with the ignition timing
