White smoke suggests to me that your brake master cylinder may be leaking into your booster and the diaphragm may be split, thus allowing brake fluid into the engine.

5.9 2005 Dodge cummins diesel - smokes - cold or warm. Any suggestions on where to begin??

What color smoke? Blue means you are burning oil, possibly worn rings or valve seals. Gray is excessive fuel from worn injectors. White is antifreeze usually means headgasket.

When motor is ran hot,how can you tell if the motor and,or heads are still good

Are you blowing white smoke that looks like steam that is a sign of a blower head gasket . Chevy has a problem with over heating the engines don't take it well . Check for oil in your antifreeze if you take the radiator cap off you will see it floating on top alos check your engine oil for a white fromey build up on the dipstick they bolth mean oil and antifreeze are mixing inside the engine. The most likely thing that happened is the intake manifold gasket is leaking coolant goes through it and is sealed between it and the heads but it flows between them. If you don't have the white smoke its likely what is leaking its just not getting into the cylinders yet its a cheaper job to repair then head gaskets but hard to tell with out a compresstion test then would show low compresstion on 1 or 2 cylinders still if you want to keep it you need to fix every thing wrong wish you luck and don't ever let a chevy over heat

Heap of white smoke on startup but not always

White smoke usually occurs when there is not enough heat to burn the fuel. The unburned fuel particles go out the tailpipe and typically produce a rich fuel smell. It's not unusual to see white smoke in the exhaust during cold weather until the engine warms up.

Faulty glow plugs or control module can cause white smoke on engine start up.

Low engine cranking speed may also produce white smoke.

If white smoke is still visible after the engine has warmed up, the engine may have one or more bad injectors, retarded injection timing or a worn injection pump.

Low compression or air in the fuel system can also be a source of white smoke.

Coolant leaking from back of motor

hi there
to answer your question it could very well be a frost plug that came out
but to verify this pressure test the system
but first take brake clean and clean the area well
so you can see it better
there is also a dye you can get to see it better
but i have used food coloring because the collant is one color it would help to have a different color to verify

94' jeep cherokee laredo..white smoke when i'm parked or stopped

Your Jeep is Burning Oil. Do you need a Quart every Now and Then? The only way to fix this is to get the Piston Rings Replaced and is not Cheap. There are a Few Additives on the Market that you can put in the Motor to Minimise the Problem for a While. You need to go to Your Auto Parts Store and see what is available in your Area on these though. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
