Question about 2005 Toyota Matrix

1 Answer

I have a 03 matrix. Battery is strong but the motor will not turn

Over. I took off the starter & took it to a local auto parts store to have tested and they said it was fine. Installed starter to check for other problems. Vehicle is an automatic. Turned key on and went though the gears and can hear a buzzing sound coming from the transmission. (only when in reverse) I hope there's a simple solution. I need help...
Thank you,

My winstar 2000 do no start

Try to find where your starter motor relay is & replace. You will probably need a workshop manual from your local auto store. Also check fusible links aren't burnt out, coming off the positive battery terminal, & also check the negative terminal has a clean earth to the chassis & engine block. Also check positive & negative connections to the starter are clean & tight.

2004 matrix will not start, turn key and will do nothing and i took the starter to be checked at the local Auto zone and it checked out fine

Does the lights go dim when you try to start the car?? If not then there is a starter relay in the fuse panel under the hood, try replacing it.The inside of the cover on the fuse box shows where the relay is located. If the lights go dim, then it's your battery is too low. It should be no less that 12.5 vdc.

Have a 1997 twon car battery not so good hols a charge all lights brite turn ket you can hear starter engage but dont turn over also when turn key dash lights go out also when you close doors the door...

If you can jump start your Lincoln...the battery must be low...(when running have it tested for free at your local auto parts store...the alternator controls the full charging of your battery when the motor is running...If you can not successfully jump start your Lincoln it points to definitely a defective battery, and the starter could be bad also...if your battery is fully charged, and the starter will not turn the motor over the battery connections or the starter is bad...Not a big swithch out...Hope this helps.

The car engine starts and runs for a while and it cuts off initially but has now completely refused starting again. Can it be a memory or programming problem with the brain box?

check the coil packs
its usually an ignition prob.
that is if it turns but no fire.
if the motor doesnt even try to turn and it just "clicks"
could be a battery or a starter motor.

prices for a 2.0 8v. motor on coil is 141.50 plus tax from my local advance auto parts store
the starter and battery are in the same price range for a new one.

2003 BMW 325 ci, headlights are strong, car will not start. When I turn the key to start I can hear one click which I am guessing it is some sort of relay. Charge the battery last night but did not resolve...

Thank you for using Fixya.

Hi. If you can hear a click (quite loud) from the engine compartment, but the starter won't crank, this also usually caused by discharged battery; since you already recharged the battery then the starter solenoid, starter cables or the starter motor itself could be a problem.

All the best!

Our 2000 Impala sometimes will not start.

Sounds like a "dead spot" in the starter solenoid. Not sure if you will have to replace the entire starter assembly or just the solenoid. Some GM starters have a solenoid that can't be replaced seperatly.
A trip or call to your local parts store (O'Reilly's / Advance Auto) might be helpful.. explain your problem and see what they think.

How can I determine if battery needs to be replaced vs. ?? Headlights and inner lights go on..put in key and all panel lights light up...clicking sound when turning key

easiest most acurate way to determine if your battery needs to be replaced is to take it to your locale auto parts store and have them test it. As far as the clicking goes a faulty starter or loose connection could cause this symptom as well

Starter does not work

It's either a weak battery or a failing starter motor.

Best thing to do is to go to a local auto parts place (Checker/PepBoys/Autozone) and have them test the battery.

If the battery tests OK, then your starter is failing.
