its possable the OD button on the gear selector has failed, or simply the globe for this in the speedo cluster has blown, check the over drive button in in the on position.

I'd check the overdrive solenoid atop of the tranny. Apply 12V + to it and see if it will go in to OD. If it does you will need to check the OD relay or temp switch. Or rewire a new switch.

Thanks,
Tom

run fault codes and look for a reverse solenoid/ servo or TCM fault.

My 2001 jeep grand cherokee wont shift into 4th it only goes to third what would cause the 4th gear to not engage

There are several things that could cause that.
> Replacement transmission not equipped with overdrive
> Overdrive solenoid in replacement transmission defective
> Overdrive control circuits damaged or loose pins or connections.
> Gear shift linkage or cable out of adjustment
> Transmission range sensor malfunction or out of adjustment

Since you have a computer-controlled transmission, it would be better to ask the onboard computer that question....you will probably get a much more definitive answer.

How to fix pajero fieldmaster transmission? the gear only runs till 3rd gear and stops there..so if i step on the throttle up to 3x10000 rpm the temperature will rise..so i have to maintain only to 2x10000...

I actually have the same problem just a few mos ago with my Pajero Fieldmaster 4M40 A/T. Is your speedometer working? My speedometer sensor is intermittently working if it does not work at all, the tranny will not shift to 4th gear no matter how hard you push the gas pedal to the limit!! I replaced the speed sensor and it goes back to normal now.
