Tail lights, dash lights constantly blowing in my 1997 Pardo

Ok so when i go over some rough roads or big bumps the fuse blows, Usually you can just replace it but sometimes when i feels like being a pain in my *** i have to take the hole dash out and move stuff around. i cant seem to find what it is thats not right in there i kno its something earthing out on the body but i hav no idea where to look. Its a huge pain in the ****. Has anyone else had a problem like this that they can give me a few clues??? please
Thanks Bridget

Tail lights and dash lights out, fuse keeps blowing

a fuse burning is due to a short in the circuit ( something is grounding out before the load). the load is the light. heavy amperage draw will blow a fuse, but assuming you didnt wire up 4 big off road lights or a winch to that circuit, its most likely a short.

Hi,
Looks like the park light harness got a short circuit.
Check the wire harness leading to the tail light. One of the power wire( usually red wire ) is stripped off the rubber insulation and touches the metal body ground. Check also the tail light connection and bulbs base contact points..
When you found the wire insulate it by using any plastic electrical tape.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

check the parking light fuse or taillight fuse to make sure it has not blown. replace it if it has blown and see if the lights work or if the fuse blows again. if it blows when you turn the lights on then you have a short circuit that needs repaired. if the fuses are good ,then most likely the headlight switch is bad not allowing the taillights or dash lights to work.

My dash lights went out. i replaced the fuse and that worked for about three days and the fuse blew again.

could be a short in the tail lights, i had this happen to. same truck. check for stretched wires through the body behind tail light as they might be pulled hard enough to ground out, blowing the fuse, i couldnt find anything, try a rebuildable fuse so it cant blow, or just wrap it with tin foil. the qwik fix for stuck on the road

Are the bulbs out of the sockets and the fuse blows?
Take bulbs out and check again
Place one back at a time if fuse was OK with bulbs out to locate bad bulb.
Otherwise.......
Do this........if still needed with bulbs out and fuse blowing.
Put a circuit breaker in to replace the fuse of the same amperage.
It will trip off then back on.
Use a standard cheap magnetic compass........place along lighting wiring........the wire with current will cause the needle to jump as circuit breaker trips on and off.
Follow path of current to problem.....the compass will stop moving once past the shorted /grounded wire/connection.

No tail lights/instrument lights on 2001 Ford Focus Wagon

Your problem is you have a Hot Wire touching ground.I know this for sure! The quwstion is where is it?the cause of the problem. It can be fixed but you would have to have a lot of patience.Try using your nose, sniff out the smell of burned copper under the dash or in the trunk area if you can smell it you can find it.Up the rating of the fuse go 15 then 20 then 25 see if it still blows it shoud. I wished I were near you man I love these problems.Good luck!

Tail lights and dash lights keep blowing fuse when you start it

you have a short somewhere, unplug the tail lamps one at a time and see if the fuse still blows. if you disconnect one and the fuse does not blow and everything else works, the problem is in the tail light assembly. if not, the short is most likely in the wiring harness which can be a bit tricky to diagnose. alldata.com/diy offers one year subscriptions to cars with all the repair info and they have excellent wiring schematics. dont forget to try the front marker lamps in addition to the tail lamps.
