Brakes my emergency brakes dont work and i was wonderin y

Is your parking brake on.
to turn off your daytime running lights on your island you put your mergency break on check to see if your emergency brake switch is bad or your emergency brake is on.

Should be a bar on the left side of the dash near the headlight switch you pull out.
Check your owners manual for details.

Have you checked the bulbs?

You dont need a diagram, you have the car in front of you. Since you dont say what model, year ect. that you have I dont know what to tell you. You need to find out which parts/ cable is seized and replace them, you can buy some cables aftermarket, but most will be dealer parts.

change brake switch. my son just changed my brakes and the lights for both regular and emergency brakes stayed on, we changed the switch and now just the emergency brake needs adjusting so that light will go out too <!-- from fixya rte -->

FIRST adjust rear brake starwheel while spinning tire FOWARD. then alongside drivers side of car find emergency brake cable adjustment (long threaded rod with nut) . hold one end of rod with vise-grips and turn nut until emer. brake cable has less slack in it. now go inside car and apply e-brake.you dont want the pedal to stop right away but u also dont want too much"travel" in the pedal.so about halfway is IDEAL. IMPORTANT- once the brake cable is adjusted and the car wont roll foward in gear with the brake on and applying a little "gas"-make sure with brake OFF that rear wheels turn freely. hope this helps.

make sure emergency brake pedal is pulled all the way up

if you emergency brake is not holding then it is about time to put some rear brakes on the vehichle as they are the main brakes used for the emergency brake also depending on how long it has been this way you might also need new drums

look under the front of the rubber boot that covers the bottom of the park brake handle, u will see a nut on the end of the park brake cable, tighten it until u reach the proper adjustment.

they is a switch under steerihg wheel that isnt makeing contact which is for the turn signals and emergency flashers is needs to be replaced or try to take some electrical contact cleaner and spray it in where u trun the emergency flashers on push them on and off while spraying this in there then check the brake lights if it dont work then replace the switch not expensive
